Phil, i aint been a member for about a year now, and rather than Craig saying why they have commercial interest, can you say they haven't gain'd ??

So people ask the advice of the SIDC, say someone ask's Pete where to get an exhaust, are you telling me that Pete has given advice to go to scoobymania rather than scoobysport...I can't see it...

I mentioned about trackdays at the last agm and it wasn't even in the minutes, how does that look on the SIDC, and the fact they elected all the members before the meeting had started.......

Can see why not many people turned up this year....

I would still be a member, apart from i was penalised for having a faster ford......

Think it might be more to do with IM skulking round donnington trying to void warrantys than a few non-scoobys sulking 'cos a year ago they were told "SIDC trackdays = preference to Subarus" then blatantly ignoring every explanation ever posted that this did not mean that they werent welcome, only that if events were oversubscribed they would understandably be in the queue after imprezas

Phil

So as an SIDC member for the last 3 years and currently undecided whether to rejoin, I have no voice? Great attitude

It's not hostility it's exasperation due to the fact this was heavily debated at the time with the possible consequences, which appear to have materialised - and it fell on deaf ears.

I'm not going to go into the ways to exploit your position as an SIDC member, but I'd consider Petes integrity to be high enough not to do it.

dsmith, i was told by the SIDC i wasn't welcome, not matter if there were places free or not.

So that really doesn't apply to me, i aint sulking anyway as i wasn't going to bedford, i am just offering some views....

The track day policy needs to change, simple. I'm sure Chris will do his best...

I'm in the same boat, SIDC member for 3 years, not rejoined 'cos I ain't got a Scoob anymore.

Chris said I would be welcome in the Westfield at the Oulton day, so things are looking up.

Would like to see some official stance on track days and attendees if possible.

regards,

Greg

CraigH

Last time I asked Pete something at a meet he asked me to ring him in the morning

Anyway I think market forces have forced the change re trackdays
as I understand it previoulsy track days have been oversubscribed almost on announcement of the event. Now for many reasons these days are not

So lets all try and Help Chris with pushing things forward for some succesful track days

OK, i am confused.

Why did we have all these posts on scoobynet saying "Hurry up, get your place now, bedford is filling fast!"

I was going to book on this, but hadnt got round to it yet because i was concentrating on other, more pressing things. I was under the impresion there were no problems whatsoever with this event running. Arron and I were talking about doing the event just yesterday.

Sorry, but if you are going to post info like it's filling up fast, dont bull$hit us! Talk about out of the blue! Very disapointed indeed as Bedford is one of the few tracks i havent driven yet.

As to limiting what cars would run, i think i said enough at the time on that one......

My Opinion for what it is worth, after attending the AGM yesterday is:

I am sure with Chris on the commitee SIDC will be going forward from here on!!!.
As for Track days, I believe that if the track day is organised by a club(eg SIDC) that specifies in a certain type of car(eg Subaru), it will be the 'club' car that will be the majority at the track days, as that is the interest of the club members...!

I think that other cars of similar performance should be invited to attend, but the Subarus will get priority booking!

As for shared club days, I am unfamiliar with the organisational side but believe that each commitee member in Chris' position for each club should be jointly involved in organising, with one overseer (alternated between clubs each time a trackday is organised)
E.G.Track day 1: Chris is overseer, other club is MLR
Chris contact track and is main contact....
Chris organises SIDC side of track day
MLR Member organises MLR publicity
is responsible for attracting half the attendance needed.
is responsible for covering half the cost (at deposit time and when full payment is required - assuming enough take has occurred)
Both club members are responsible for conferring/agreeing re. how the day will be run.
Track day 2: roles reversed....etc...

Anyway, this is my opinion on how I see things could work..(or maybe not)... As it is.. I am sure Chris has better ideas than this!!

Sorry but i have to agree with jon on this

Why restrict it 1 marque or only SIDC members i have a non scoob fwd car that we would have brought with us as well very miffed at the whole situaion how many more of these events are SIDC going to book and then cancel due to there stuck in there ways of only SIDC MEMBERS joining in would it not be more enjoyable for us to mix with other like minded fellow enthusiasts from other forums that are not so stuck in there ways EG joined the seat forum only to go on there track days did not tell me you aint a member of our marque drivers club u aint joining in.

GET YOUR HEAD OUT OOF THE SAND GUYS AND SMELL THE ROSES

If you want to fill these days you are going to have to re avalute your old opinuns

Sorry for the remarks but i am fed up with booking on these things then havin em pulled from under my feet and i now have top tell the misses we aint goin specially as i read only last night that this day was filling quick

SORRY but that was bu******
(very unhappy, ducks as misses throws saucepan full of cheese sauce at me )

I`m not interested in being on a committee(cant spell).I do have other things other than Scoobynet to worry about in life.
I gotta buisness to run. I just wanna have some fun
and do a b1oody track day.
I agree with John.
Bedford booking up nicely turns into Bedford cancelled.
Utter bo11ox if you ask me.
Get it sorted boys or we`ll defect to the BMW days. You can run whatever you like on those days. Very professional.( cant spell again)

Having gone to the previous trackday at Bedford as a spectator earlier this year I decided to pop my trackday cherry and go to this one. I must have been one of the first 15 people to book. I had 6-10 people paying as spectators to come with me.

To find out that it's been cancelled and THEN be offered the Oulton Park track on THE SAME DAY instead doesn't cut it with me. If we were having trouble filling this event, perhaps running 2 track days on the same day might have something to do with the fact one of the venues was lacking subscibers?

There's a thread in the track days forum from only 6 days ago with subject "### Bedford SIDC Booking Up Nicely ###".

If it wasn't, why post this? why not post.. "Bedford SIDC, we need more bookings ASAP"

As disappointed as any regarding cancellation - will wait for any details on Oulton now... I'm sure the SIDC will adapt and learn from this...

Personally I enjoy trackdays more than when it's not only us posy Scooby owners scared of getting fly spots on our foglamp covers allowed in

Really think there are some sour grapes being chucked about here, regarding commercial enterprises' individuals chipping in to the Scooby pool... There IS a clear benefit to their companies by this exposure (if that exposure is judged positive and knowledgeable of course), but there is also a clear benefit to us all too... I know I’ve learnt a lot from these chaps. Besides, ANY half decent company dealing in Subaru tuning etc WOULD and SHOULD get involved in the debate! That some do to an extent that often is very time consuming, and BEYOND any benefit from recognition and exposure is surely a benefit to us all. I for one am too busy to even think of organising anything for SIDC, and thank the ones that do that for us – whatever their day-job is!

The club is sorry we have to cancel any events. We can't force you to go or renew !!!

No one knows the amount of work involved to organise an event and make sure everyone knows when to turn up etc.

I am very upset with the amount of bad emails I personally receive on a daily basis. Because of this I will be leaving the committee in the new year.

Bu66er. Was planning to try the new engine out once the injectors had come + ecu remapped. Oulton is a little far from Bury St Edmunds. Bedford is great - big disappointment. Timing a week out.

I reckon the best thing the SIDC can do is put the bl00dy theing back on.
Repair what damage has been done.
I would have actually joined but I`m not now.

How hard can it be for firks sake.
Book a date, get payments in full from people( and I reckon that would easily be 50cars) and off we go!!!
In my experience of booking karting and stuff in the past you always get folk who drop out last minute but if you have their money its tuff.
Why refund...tell them they can pass the money onto the next track day but dont give it back.
GET THE DAY BACK ON.
LET OTHER CARS COME AND PLAY!

To those of you who think its so f***** easy running this club and booking track events, jeezus you have no idea.

It was cancelled today by myself and Chris because palmersport were pushing for the deposit plus signed sales agreement. Once they receive the signed sales agreement THEY ARE LEGALLY ENTITLED TO THE FULL AMOUNT whether we run the day full, half full or not at all.

If we had sent the agreement back we would have cost the club a great deal of money.

How would you like to gamble with £8,000 of members money ???

The fact of the matter is that we have lost money on previous days and this will not happen again.

Bottom line is this - if you think we do a crap job, nominate yourself and we'll resign instantly. However if you are going to post this and that about how it should be done and then turn down the offer of a position STFU.

pissed off ? yes of course I am. In addition to the time I put in, I watch Lisa stick in around 3 days a week on SIDC related stuff. Just to get a kicking. nice huh.

Arron you are a complete jerk to say that you were about to join and now you won't. What tosh.

Take Trax for example. I received about 50 "yes yes I want I want" emails. When it came to getting the money it went flat.

If you think you can take money from people and then not give it back I suggest that you never own a company or have anything to do with commerce cos you clearly have no clue. The consumer is god in the eyes of the law, he can phone his credit card company and get a refund. period.

AARON

Well there's your challange

Ring Bedford up take the day on yourself.

Send Bedford 50% of the cost today and sign a legally binding document to pay the balance

And just collect the money from everybody remembering to send the balance in 2 weeks ie 2 weeks before the event

Jesus it is so easy

Good idea Phil, anyone got his address, I'll send them on. I'm sure Bedford will be excited at the prospect of BirdBrain Motorsport taking on their first event.

We do get payments in full. Its just that we don't get enough people.

Here you go then..the cost of the day is £8,225 inc VAT.

We set the fee at £165 therefore you need 50 cars to meet the commitment.

With only 1 month to go to the event we had 23 and it was open to members and non-members.

Yes we would probably had more. Lets say we got another 15 cars which is doubtful, we would have *lost* just under £2,000. I can just see the warm replies we get when we increase membership to pay for the losses, I'm sure no-one will mind

Go for it Bird...you will always get a lot of interest for Bedford track days from the likes of the Ford boys, the Lotus boys, Ferrari boys and the Porsche boys...

I've been to quite a few down there and they always out-number the Scooby's...

It is a quality track, with very good facilities, and only two gravel traps to find yourself in and only one real section of barrier to bend anything...the rest of the track has loads and loads of run off area....Ideal place for 1st timers....

As they say in Wayne's World - If you book it they will come (or something like anyway..)

Oh and don't forget your £5 million public liability cover as well. Plus you need someone onsite designated as the sidc co-ordinator at all times.
