Guys

I think this is going too far; lets chill a little and be a bit more pragmatic.

The guys arranging events here have clearly learnt a couple of things from this failure (esp the sporting ‘newbie’ who put his money where his moans were) – I’m sure you will find that next time they will probably offer a track day to SIDC members for 2 weeks, and then open it to MLR and other clubs at a premium of a fiver or something. If they don’t THEN moan, and moan harder if they are salaried professionals, not kind hearted volunteers… We’ve lost one volunteer already, so lets bite the lip a bit, be more diplomatic maybe?

Can I also say that the notion of charging more for fewer places is self-defeating, and doesn't defeat the commercial competition. It is also somewhat against my concept of a car club getting the best deals for its members as it operates on a mutual basis with a pool of like-minded owners.

Firstly yes remove your mobile number you have made your point and I appreciate that

The points you raised are fair

1. Why did Chris Post "booking up Nicely" well I think I read somewhere perhaps reverse Physcoligy I'm not sure. Perhaps a lesson learn't but Lets give Chris a chance he is very committed to getting it right

2. As for the 2 on the same day I can only say this is being looked into by the current committee members, and will report accordinally.

Saying all that I appreciate that you do not have time to commit to the club. Fair comment but I am only co opted to assist with finacial matters and I have spent many hours freely.

I don't want a medal but it does always seem that people are very quick to SLAG.

Now I don't want to fallout with anybody but surley constructive critiscism would be far more appropriate

Ronan,

That's a fair point re the AGM. However, pretty much all the non Impreza owning, EX-SIDC members would'nt be there (not that they would anyway perhaps) as they are no longer members. They're no longer members 'cos the track day ruling changed. And it's changed again. Except only about 20 people know

I've posted on 5 BBS's this morning about this - nothing negative - it doesn't take long to cut and paste the topic into a BBS - about 10mins if you're slow.

10 mins work and how much greater exposure to the event?

Not difficult is it?

As it's so little work to do I'd be prepared to promote the events rather than risk losing them altogether.

Reckon spread over 5 clubs it'd fill up pretty quick. Would have to be 1st come 1st served tho.

I still see the problem as financial risk

SOMEONE has to take the risk

As I understand it this is how it happens[please correct me]

Event is decided [perhaps with 2 months notice]

Track WANT 50% with booking [non refundable]
now with Bedford Lee managed to postpone send initial deposit off

The Balance due 2 weeks before

SO WHO takes the risk? SIDC hopping the RSOC,MLR etc will fill up the spare spaces.

Thats fine IF the spaces are filled and I accept your comments about posting on other BBS's etc

BUT who picks up the Loss if say we are 5 spaces short e.g. Bedford 195 x 5 = 975 [thats 39 annual membership subs]

Everything works fine if there is oversubscribtion but this does not appear to be happening

Off course the answer is have a legal joint venture between clubs but this then creates a TRACKDAY Co.and we all know that there are several off them already.

BTW I'm glad this thread has calmed down and perhaps we can find the answer between us

Phil

As I don't have the bottle or the budget for trackdays, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but it seems to me that the problem might relate to the fact that there have been fewer SIDC days, and more 'in conjunction with' days.

I realise that at one point last year there were too many days to be able to fill, but surely there's an element of supply and demand in all this. If there are no days organised with the trackday companies (of which I believe there have been a few this year) the surely the SIDC would be able to fill their days.

I don't think it would have made any difference in this case, as there has obviously been a lack of communication somewhere down the line, but I would think it would make a difference under normal circumstances.

The current situation aside, I think the commitee does a sterling job.

All IMHO of course.

Life is not made easier when bedford tell Chris (yesterday) that they are not prepared to make the day cheaper, then tell me this morning that they can.

I put the day back on as a result of this new information, Chris feels like he looks foolish and the club looks unprofessional, what can you do ???????

Imagine if we canned the event and then someone found out they were prepared to do it cheaper. Flamesuits on boyz !!

Ant & Dec to host a new gameshow "I'm a committee member, get me outta here !!!!!!"

Lee, Lisa and all other SIDC committe members YOU DO A GREAT UNAPRECIATED JOB , please ignore the few ‘bird’ brains on here, and keep up the good work. The club would not be as good and well organised without you chappers

MRK
I have no doubt that they do a good job. I`m not knocking the club. I`m knocking the organisers of this particular event!!
I am not interested in the SIDC!!
I will however spend my money with them instead of another firm but not if this happens every time.

And exactly how brown is your nose today ?

If you think that this was well organised then I'd hate to see your idea of a f*ck up.

Can we lock this thread and (if necessary) start another one about the organization (or lack of) of this track day?

It's just that the 'Bedford SIDC Cancelled' thread is consistently higher up the page than the 'Bedford SIDC is back on' thread, which could prove confusing and result in some poeple not booking up.
