FFS Lee, will you guys please wake up and stop all this nonsense about Subaru preference.
Have you still not understood one of the big problems you have when organising SIDC track days at the moment, that of the perception that non Impreza's are second class and only get a run when your in the ****.
I cant believe you posted that you want non Imprezas to wait a day or two, i cant believe you posted that you prefer cars of a similar power to Elises, EVO's etc.
Why FFS???? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I'll book at home tonight.
PLEASE, drop this Subaru preference malarky, it's not working in the current economic climate.

No John I will not. I really don't understand how a concept so simple can be so hard to understand.
The SIDC is not a generic trackday club. Its a club for Drivers of the Subaru Impreza. Therefore, do you not think that on a day that we arrange for our members its unreasonable to expect Imprezas ?
One might argue that there is in fact little point being a member of the SIDC if you don't own an Impreza. I would say this is true although there are I think two exceptions :
a) Members who are enthusiastic about the car but do not own one
b) Members who used to own one and still want to be part of the club
So point 1 which I don't think anyone could successfully argue is quite simply that the SIDC is for impreza drivers.
It was a *fact* that some tracks brought out a policy of single-make cars on track. This we had to abide by, however I believe this policy has now been abandoned.
And yes, its true that as a club we do not want to lose money, so if it means taking in non-imprezas as a necessity then so be it.
We are not being elitist, simply trying to run an Impreza club with Imprezas.

John, LOL....
Since when can an Elise compete with a Scoob, Evo, Skybus... Oooops sorry Skyline.
I think the only places they can keep with a scoob is on twisty circuits.

As an ex-SIDC member and an ex-Impreza owner I quite understand that you'd want to fill the event up with Scoobies....might be an idea to not have a non-SIDC price on the SIDC web site..
I'll not bother booking Bedford then...

Dan,
depends on whether the ELise is modified or not. With some of them pushing out over 170bhp (some reported as high as 220+bhp) in something weighing 700Kg, then they can be significantly faster around some tracks than Imprezas!
In standard trim, the Elises are (can be) faster around the corners, but lose out a bit at the top end along the straights, so it tends to even out.

Sorry...I didn't mean to imply that you should exclude Scoobynet Impreza owners. However if you are a member of SIDC shouldn't that have preference rather than the type of vehicle you own (since your money funds the club) or do you give discounts on club membership for non-Impreza owning SIDC members ?

No, he said "might be an idea to not have a non-SIDC price" - yes I was confused too. Jeff - why aren't you booking Bedford then, bit of a baffler that post

Not really a baffler....You obviously want to fill the event up with Scoobies, fair enough. If you haven't got enough people nearer your deadline then I'd be happy to attend.

ooooh can->open->worms->everywhere
this then begs the question as to why are you in the club ? Could it be that you are in the club to take advantage of club trackdays ? please please please I'm not saying you are, its just that this has been discussed to death and goes nowhere fast. Quite simply we would have made life easier for ourselves if we said that you require an impreza to be in the club. As usual something which we offered to ex-impreza owners because it was asked for backfired.

Hurray at last, Jeff you seem to be the first person to catch on to what I've been saying all along. As you put it, its not a baffler.

Until this month I was an SIDC club member and until 2 Months ago I had a Impreza....and I've never attended a SIDC event so the answer to your question is no....
However I have done a Porsche Owners Club trackday in an Impreza !

If you want, I'll kick off the argument about being an SIDC member who doesn't want to go to trackdays, and therefore thinks his membership is a rip-off. I don't think anyone's come in from that angle yet.
Well, not this week, anyway.

As someone who has been very vocal on here about track events and given sooooooooooooooooooooooo much advice on the subject (you even copied my trackday preperation guide and give it out on SIDC days FFS), been there, done that, got the T-Shirt, seen all the trends of growth and decline, i cant believe you are not taking on board what i am saying to you about the realities of the situation right now.
Subaru only days are unworkable, the attitude that the club is portraying in the public arena scares people off.
Why do you think BHL/Octagon have abandoned the rules on single make sessions? It's because they have to! Economics dont add up anymore. Octagon are in the **** financially at the moment, their parent company has told them they have to restructure and they may have to sell one of their race tracks to get the finances in order. Just think about why this is!
There is no need to limit the days to Subaru only to enable Subaru owners to attend. It may be comendable to say this is a subaru club, so they come first, but the reality is that simply isnt required at the moment, Sept last year changed things with regards to economics, we are starting to feel that more and more. You have to move with the times Lee, or these days will just die, i would hate to see that.
Yes the SIDC is there for it's members, and it's there for the Subaru marque, but its not exactly providing a good service to it's members if you have to cancel the day because numbers dont add up. That way you get no Subaru's on track, rather than the ones that want to attend. I really dont understand why you cant see that yet?
and yes, i am getting frustrated by this.

I actually understand where Lee is coming from. If there are Impreza owners sufficient to fill the spaces then they get first crack of the whip and if there are any spaces left then everyone else can book on a first come basis. Like I said fair enough.

John, check your glasses mate
I have said that we want to fill the day with as many imprezas as possible, but the reality is that we may need a few non-imprezas to meet costs. That is a summary of what you just wrote, so I'm agreeing with you.
In fairness the original cancellation was due to the day being woefully undersold, the day was open to members and non-members and had received enough publicity that if a non-impreza owner on scoobynet wanted a place they could have bought one, or at least emailed us and asked us if non-imprezas were ok. Don't remember seeing any emails........
Don't you find it a bit laughable that today with all this hoohaa we've only sold another 3 places ? I think Mark will be ROFLing after all.......

But Jeff, there arn't, there havent been for ages. Thats the whole point!
It's commendable to have principles like that, but it's not very clever to cut your nose off to spite your face and ignore the fact you could do a better job for the members if you were more flexible and open to change.
