it will be another one when i get home Lee, as i said earlier!
It doesnt help when you still insist on wanting Subaru's first Lee!
I would give it more than half a day before starting to laugh too!

and you need more than a few non Impreza's to fill these days or make them viable lee, based on current trends you need more than 50% non Impreza's. I dont see why that is a problem to anyone in the SIDC as the objective is being met, providing an event members can drive on that is well organised.

never been on track before can i come even though my sidc membership has run out(i think), is it a good track for someone like me who is a total beginner, i do have an impreza

John - as a club we have run impreza-based days in the past with the SIDC "controlling" the day. As we open the days up to more and more non-imprezas outside of the club we lose control of the day.
We accept that there are no longer enough imprezas to make track days viable the way we want them, so this is why we are no longer running our own days (national day excepted) and instead looking to negotiate club discounts with other track companies.

OK, so it is open to other marques. Does my Skoda count as compatible to a Scoob, Evo, Elise, whatever? A yes or no will be fine.
If its a yes, then assuming I can clear it with she who must be obeyed (well, its her birthday), I'll book it.
I have been known to venture out on track occasionally, so shouldn't present too much of a hazard to other drivers. I went out at Donington earlier this year, left it 'til the day before to book to avoid getting trampled in the stampede of eager SIDC members. Should I wait 'til Friday and risk it being sold out or book it now (assuming my car is acceptable)?
Happen to agree with John F on this, you stating again in this thread that its for Scoobs as a preference did get my back up a bit, mainly because there had been so little interest in the first place. Basically are we (the non-scooby owning people) welcome or not?

Lee, JF,
At the risk of sticking my nose into something ...
OK, I am an SIDC member, have an Impreza, would love to do Bedford (SAFE ! Best track for a newbie, but anyway), I don't have time.
Bear with me...
It's obvious Lee has gone the extra mile to give it at least the possibility of happening. All agree ?
It's also obvious the risk of this thing being cancelled was because not enough Impreza owners can be bothered anymore. (Reason for that is not important I think BTW)
OK.
You said you needed 50 cars to make it financially viable. Only 23 were booked up.
Given the "airtime" this topic now gets on Scoobynet, you may get a few more. But you & I would doubt it would be 50.
Why don't you say: booking is open for all people that want to participate, so we can get the trackday going for those 23 Impreza SIDC members that booked anyway
That should be the main goal right ?
OK, now say you not only meet your bottomline of 50 people, but get to the max of xx people (would that be 70 ? 80 ? 50 ?). Then it would be *obvious* that preference would go to a) SIDC Impreza drivers, b) SIDC non Impreza drivers c) previous SIDC member d) some guy with a Reliant Robin.
I'm not taking the ****, it just seems logical, and I hope that a) you guys get to do the trackday and b) you actually get to the point that you have to refuse people.
I hope this does contribute somehow, as I've been called a "negative" Scoobynet poster before, and I don't want to see that again.
Short version is: Lee, drop the "Impreza only" thing, see how it goes, and obviously they will get preference (and the others money back) if it gets too crowded (let's hope so).
Have to lie down now. Sorry for the interruption.
Theo

Right, this has been on here for a good number of hours now and I have yet to receive a single email for anyone at the SIDC regarding the fact it's back on.
All I can say is thank God someone pointed me to this as unlike most seem to on here I don't sit on Scoobynet waiting to see whats posted. Likewise I don't go into the SIDC forums much, especially as I would have no need to having only officially been told via email it's "now cancelled and do I want a refund".
Surely they have the email addresses of all the orginal takers of the event?
Matt

Matt - I sent an email to all people who paid, apologies, I've just checked and had managed to add an extra 't' to your email address. So yes, we have people's emails, yes we have notified people and yes, we are human and make mistakes, apologies
EvilBevil You are right in what you say, apart from the fact that we don't need 50 cars now. Bedford are now letting us have the event with around 35 cars. So its not quite necessary just yet to panic and invite the world and his wife
We have until friday to fill the places, so out of courtesy its offered to scooby drivers for a day, then it will be open to whoever to fill the remaining spaces. Its now becoming somewhat of a "mission" for me to see this goes ahead.

Lee,
How about you make your mind up? Or SIDC or whatever.
You state you cancel Bedford.
It was open to other marques.
We get other marques - or post on their sites.
So state when it's "back on" you'd rather "keep it in the family"
People post on other boards that YOU have said you'd rather have Imprezas only - so they don't book
1st impressions.....
Pi55 up in a brewery - not.
How to distance other clubs in 1 easy lesson.
Think SIDC need to get some procedures in place - this is a joke.
1 minute 1 thing is ok - next it's not. You lot need a slap to wake you up, you really do.

I know of one other RX7 that has booked today, not including myself. I know of a few more that are thinking about booking.
Before anybody starts I still have my scoob, but want to find the limits of the [7]. And lets be fair there are not many places better than Bedford.
I know that Lee, Lisa and Mellow have put a LOT of work in to this.
I just hope that it happens.
I am one of those people that are still thinking about re-joining, as the only events that I ever attend from SIDC are track related. I attend meets on a semi-regular basis, and to be fair most come from SCoobynet. And most of the people that arrange them from here are no longer members of SIDC.
I find trackdays are more fun when you have a selection of cars on track. The one thing that SIDC days pride themselves on, is that driver conduct is VERY good. If anybody starts pratting about, they are delt with very quickly and fairly. If they persist they get told to go home.
This is not a SIDC bashing, just my little view on it.
Dan
Edited to add - If trackdays need more cars to fill them up, say so. DONT try and kid us by saying 'Places moving quick, book now!!!'

It looks like i wasted half my time trying to get you to understand how to make things better in the future, as you have already decided to not hold any future track days anyway. I take it this decision was made by the committee at the AGM? If so why didnt you say this was the last SIDC trackday (except the national day) at the start of this debate? That would have saved me a lot of wasted breath.
Totally You argue against what i was saying about Subaru only events not being viable, and then you agree with this point and say the comittee has already decided what i was saying is correct and you're not going to do events any more.
I look forward to the day at Bedford, hopefully enough people will sign up. You still persist in alianating non-Subaru drivers, even at this late stage. I really dont understand?
Anyway, i put my money where my mouth is, i'll be the guy in the STi with smoke pouring off his back tyres.

This argument goes on and on, it seems like something we'll never win.
I state once more :
"The Subaru Impreza Drivers Club would prefer to have Subaru Imprezas on its own run trackdays"
WTF is wrong with that ? How does it alienate other clubs ?
*IF* I ran a generic track company and then started dictating what types of car I wanted on track, yeah that'd be iffy.
If I phoned up the RSOC and asked to go on a Cosworth trackday and was denied cos I have an Impreza, would I whinge and whine - no. If they said "Look mate, in all honesty we're a little short of spaces and would appreciate you coming along so we don't lose money, how about we wait a few days and if there are any space places you're in" I would be chuffed.
Seems to me this is exactly what is happening here but a select few are *not* chuffed.
There seems to be an opinion floating around that if you ever had an impreza, talked about one, sat in one you have some right to bring along whatever car you own to an impreza day. Mad
For the record, once more...
"The Subaru Impreza Drivers Club would prefer to have Subaru Imprezas on its own run trackdays"
I'm not going to argue that any more on this BBS since it is as clear as day - I've had enough private emails in the last two days to know that the people who disagree are in a very small minority.
