let's not get hung up on this TVR thing - I had one; it looked the part. The Scooby IS the part (maybe doesn't look it). To the uninitiated it's still a Q car. A bright red convertable with cream leather is never gonna be a Q car.

See, there you go again, slagging off other cars. I could list a dozen reasons for not buying a Subaru but I won't because it isn't fair and besides, the plus points out weigh the negatives just like they do with TVR or any other car make. There is good and bad in all. I know someone who bought a 968 brand new when they came out and within a week it was an engine out job to cure a knocking noise.
By the way, what exactly is fishing mode on, fishing mode off ???? as the moderator mentioned. Now I am the one confused by some of the weird replies.

Why are you flaming this bloke! He's come on here in a relatively friendly manor and made one comment which could have been put better. The rest is totally fair and he is expressing his respect for the impreza as a fellow performance car owner. Grow up kids! It's all this pettiness that is dragging sensible debates/threads down.
I honestly think some people read a thread and imagine words which aren't even there............

Shorla,
Learn to read! Your comment is compleate cr@p.
6/ I am on this board because I am interested in Scoobys (I may even buy one) and my wife works away from home every weekday so I get to play on the PC

Leave the guy alone - for god sake the poor bugger's got a wife and TVR to run, a very expensive combination!
I think he actually said that he liked Subaru's but I would think that this site may have put him off getting one - I think we may have answered his question about council estate cars by the replies he got.

Don't listen to them Chip. They are only trying to wind you up.
I think TVRs are great cars used to have 5.0 Chimera.
I love scoobs/evos - point to point in the real world of driving you can't beat them. Steve MY94 WRX (with sh**e micky mouse interior)
Best wishes
Steve

lol, this is one funny assed thread.
I quite like my council estate (my99) car. The looks aren't brilliant, the build quality isn't brilliant, but it sure does give you a big grin, which is the most important thing. Image is nothing, performance is everything. If you want a car to pose in, you shouldn't be on the road.
TVR's are great. They make a great sound, go well, and one day the build quality will get beyond the current 'built in a shed' look that they have. My father used to have a 4.3 Chimera and it was great fun. Things did go wrong on it, but, in the same way as you don't buy an impreza for its looks, you don't buy a TVR for its reliability.
Just as an aside, went to the motorshow yesterday and had a look at the new Tamora based 350, looks great, but you could actually get your finger in the gap between the a-pillar and the window/roof (and yes, the window was fully up). This is the biggest obstacle in TVR's current line up - if they cannot get the fit and finish of the body work right, they'll never make it with the big boys....
Anyways, interesting post, the main point of which is that we should all get on with each other, regardless of what version scooby we drive, or even what car we drive. we are all enthusiast after all.....
Cheers
Dave

I never said I didnt like TVRs just a mate has one he likes Subaru but thinks they take no skill to drive LOL. The T350 looks a awesome car with the light sensitive chameoloen (sp?) paint work and the Tuscan R is just down right evil and a real 911 Turbo destroyer. I would have a TVR but I need the safety of AWD and 4 doors and I cant drive . Must say I was well impressed with the Tamoras interior very nicely finished. There is a lot of unreliablity stuff spouted about but these are hand built cars and do not have naff driver aids to ruin the driving experience. LOL cant believe I just talked myself into one, nearly .

Thanks for the support from the intellectual members of this forum (you know who you are guys). I wish I had never made the remark about "council estate image" as its been taken totally out of context, I was simply making an observation about the "image" and "following" these cars seem to be "attracting" I am not saying every owner of a classic is a low rent or whatever, neither am I trying to look down upon anyone. What I said was wrong and I apologise to any classic owners who are genuine but agree with me in sentiment. The reason why I came on this forum was purely out of interest for the Subaru Impreza as I have been an admirer for a long time and a friend gave me the URL. However, some of the negative vibes I am getting gives me the impression that just because I don't drive a Subaru then I am classed as a pariah. If that is how Subaru owners treat fellow performance car owners then I am sorry but it is enough to put me off the brand.
I now feel there is little point in me contributing to this forum, to some of you I guess that will be no loss. If this is how all new members are treated its a wonder the membership is so high, but having said that "birds of a feather flock together".

Sorry you feel this way.
I think its always good to get a different opinion or indeed someone new looking in a giving a different perspective. I somehow think you've brought the worst out in some people, but you did make some strong accusations about people's property and the values that go with it. But equally, you've made some gr8 points.
Enjoy the car you have and lust after the one you want.
Andy.

Just to reply to a question above my main criteria for choosing a performance car:
1/ Performance ie acceleration / speed
2/ Handling, ie grip and fun factor
3/ Characterful Noise of its engine
4/ Looks
In that order, no I didn't buy my Cerbera for its pose value I bought it mainly for points 1 2 & 3. To me if a car was available with a 10/10 for all four points then we would have a stonker

Andy, as I said the points I made were not meant as such. I now know how sensitive some members of this forum are. I take back all I said. Perhaps if I said I owned a MY97 Impreza I might have got away with it

Andy, you should try hoofing my car in the wet on a roundabout Then you would know that the handling isn't that great. Thats why I have deep respect for the Prezza. Looks are unimportant. Like I said on my original post I cannot understand why some of you slag off the new model or vica-versa. "You don't look at the fireplace when you are stoking up the fire". If you want a car to pose in buy a "Toni and Guy" car like an.....oh decide for yourselves (but DON'T say TVR)
