Had the PPP fitted to my MY01 Saturday and I'm lovin' it lovin' it lovin' it.

Had 5K miles on prior, so it was pretty well run in, but I can't believe the difference. And the noise from that back box is glorious. A lovely deep burble but not too intrusive.

Sounds like the MY01 is now the car it should have been from the start.

What do you guys reckon. Is a PPP MY01 on a par or quicker than the old shape?

 

Having borrowed a UK Turbo this weekend I have to say i was really disapointed with the older model.

Having read that the old car is loads faster (some claiming that a MY01 with PPP is ONLY a match for the old STANDARD UK turbo) i only really noticed that there is more lag and then a prononced wallop when the turbo kicks in. The MY01 PPP kicks its *** for grunt!!! LOL@anyone whos says otherwise!!!

What i couldn't believe was how crappy and plasticy the interior of the old car was - its really built badly!!!! The doors seem only a few cm's thick!! It also feels loads narrower. It rattled and creaked and didn't feel anywhere near as well put together. And it was noisier - but not from just the exhaust - there's loads more road noise!! The ride was also a lot lot harder!!! To be fair it felt planted, but i noticed understeer on my local roundabout in the dry!!!!

All in all im so glad i waited for my MY01!!

Dont think a std UK turbo is in the same league as a PPP'd MY01!!! I'll agree that there isnt such a sudden pronounce jolt (although the PPP does make the car feel like you can tell the turbos coming in more than it was before) but the MY01 certainly gets to speed like a demon!! Looking forward to the NM6 so i can get a better comparison!!!

And its certainly opened my eyes to how much better the new car is put together.

And by the way - this was a T reg UK Turbo and i couldnt help but notice how old and dated it looks (flame suit on!!)

Dont get me wrong, i loved the old model, but i really think any doubters of the new WRX should take a ride in a PPP'd car to get an idea of how things have moved on!!

P.S. Off to TSL to get some Eibach's and a geometry alignment from Trouser. I'll report back and tell you if its worth it!!

MY01 PPP definately feels faster than my standard MY98. If anyone is near Aylesbury and wants to play - up to legal limits - then I'm up for it.
