What about an R33 Skyline (as above) or a Supra Twin Turbo (if you really want to turn heads)?
Craig - Im gonna kick your ****! Attention seeking!? I suggest you go take a peep at the westie/scoobynet/rsoc bbs and count the number of pathetic posts about your airfix model (****)
As you well know, the car will be used on track. Im going to see Davids car soon.

What about a Supra?
Would suit your overweight medallion man image well
Or an RX7? Nice n cheap......
Or an ex-race Caterham superlight
or an old race Mustang 60s or early 70s only....- that'd be
A cobra kit

R33 is a compromise car in the same way as a Impreza is, as is an EVO etc etc etc.
They are all good allrounders, but a compromise between a track car and a road car. Bettered on track by the Caterham/Westfield genre, bettered on the road (as a commuting vehicle) by the BMW/Merc/VWs.
You buy a Skyline/Cossah/Scoob/EVO/etc as it is a jack of all trades, and everyday performance car - a compromise between performance/reliability/usability/practicality/etc!

Go for the M Coupe. I've had one for about 2.5 years and can't bring myself to sell it. It's very rare and you get loads of attention. In a straight line it is very quick. It's a handful to drive quickly around corners but that's part of the challenge.
When I first got the car it did'nt feel that fast, but once the engine lossens up (30k) and you get used to the driving experience, it's a real joy to own.
Thanks
Sonu

If you want a 'no compromise' car for track use, why not get a Radical Clubsport 1100 (single seater) -- they go for 10-15k? Or alternatively an old FFord (can get 99/00 Zetec ones for the same sort of money). One of the Autocar columns mentioned how you could buy an old (late 80's) F3 car for £7500.

A scoob is as much of a trackday car as the TVR, no way should the TVR be considered as one!
I only posted to say that Paul, at the rate you change cars this thread should break the record for No. of days on the first page

Right, the deals have been done!
The EVO was sold Yesterday (friday) evening and I picked up my runabout, a 1997 Audi A4 2.6 v6 Quattro with all the toys
This morning I placed a deposit on the weekend/toy car. A westfield ZEI220 For those not in the know, this was a limited edition factory built westie powered by a cossie turbo engine! I think there was only 18 ever made. This particular car has been slightly modifed and is producing 330bhp and 300+ ft/lbs torque! The test drive this morning was 'interesting', the car was spinning the rear wheels in 4th gear on the damp roads. Once we reached a dry section of road it was booted in 3rd gear, everything blurred! I have NEVER been in a car that was this fast, I was amazed!
Full spec and pics to follow, i get the westie next weekend.
Cheers for all the advice guys

Pah!
Could have had this for 6k:
Or my personal favourite for 7k:
More available at http://www.racecarsdirect.com/
I've been seriously considering some sort of Seven (Caterham/Westie/etc.) but I only either drive to work (130 mile round trip) or with the missus and kids. So the only action it would get is on the track, which suggests to me that a 'wings n slicks' car would be better for me.

Carl - it is a great idea but be aware that many Track Days won't allow race cars (nor non-mot'd cars), I knew someone who bought and ex-FF and struggled to find trackdays this side of £300/day
RMA were the only ones he could go on - and they are very good, but expensive. Granted, this was 3 years ago or so That being said, he had the time of his little life, but ended up selling it for a 'caterfield' (I forget which) as he got just as mich fun on track, AND could use it on a sunny afternoon on road..
