I guessed he liked even numbers so went for 1000, but the real answer is probably they are all fractions of 1.23342 divided by 72 when the sun is at it's highest but the wind is above factor 3!!!!

900. It's the only square number (it's 30^2). All the other numbers he likes are squares: 400 (20^2), 100 (10^2), 2500 (50^2)

With an IQ of 153, you can't even spell Einstein?

(I think Einstein's was actually 158 on the 'old' IQ system)

Question

work this one out,or am i being thick.

Two cars start off at the same point on a straight highway facing opposite directions. Each car drives for 6 miles, takes a left turn, and drives for 8 miles. How far apart are the two cars?
2 miles
11 miles
14 miles
20 miles
26 miles

Answers please, surely they drive 6 miles and end up 12 miles apart turn left so are now heading in oppo direction to each other so are now another 16 further miles apart making a total of 28 miles or as the crow flies 26,is this right

Well, its 2 diagonals of a 2x(3,4,5 triangle) = 6,8,10 triangle. 2x10 + 20

and for the other Q I just put the highest No., since in all of the examples he always preferred the highest No.

Oh and i'm a visual mathemetician with 131. Apparently i'm matched to quite a few of you, but I'm already spoken for and i don't fancy you anyway

Justin,

I too am a visual mathemetician with 129 and thought i was pretty good at maths but you've got my totally lost with this one, what the hell are you on about here.

Well, its 2 diagonals of a 2x(3,4,5 triangle) = 6,8,10 triangle. 2x10 + 20

Am i too old at 34,please explain the above as i am starting to feel very thick.(and look it)

Cheers Paul

Firstly I made a typo, 2x10 = 20, i shouldn't have typed a +

You know pythagorus theory (i'm good at maths, not spelling) where if you have a right angled triangle whose two shortest side are 3 and 4, the longest side is 5.

now picture the 2 people travelling away from each other, starting on a graph at 0,0. one goes up the y axis +6 and turns left, hence goes along the x axis -8. the other guy does the opposite, i.e down y axis -6, along the x axis +8.

How far are they away from the origin? (0,0) not how far have they travelled?. if you work out how far away one of them is from the start point, this will be half the distance they are apart. The 3,4,5 rule applies here since they turned left (a right angle) and the longest side is always opposite the right angle, this tells us that the 6 and 8 are the shortest sides. So the distance from the origin (as the crow flies) is 10. So they are 20 apart.

a picture is worth 1000 words!!

Good point, I noticed it was all leading up to a £15 payment for the details.

I'm off to find a proper one.
