Glad you're OK and well done for protecting the kids.
What I can't understand or I've missed is why on earth didn't the police attend and do this guy for dangerous driving. A witness said he was speeding, he was certainly driving too fast for conditions and they don't bother to turn up??
I would have expected them to turn up and arrest him! Surely he should be charged if he nearly killed people! If 100mph in the dry can get you a ban then 100mph in the wet smashing into other vehicles deserves a long long ban.
When I had an accident years ago it was only the fact that the other idiot got convicted of dangerous driving that stopped the insurance companies treating it as 50:50.
Or am I missing something here?

Ronnie,
I'm glad you could walk away from the accident! That's far more important than bits of metal, or arseholes on the road.
Get yourself down to hospital, and make sure you are ok.
Take care mate

glad to hear no serious injuries.
i thought the police had to take claims against dangerous driving seriously if there were multiple witnesses? if a policeman had witnessed it they would be prosecuted - why not if "x" number of the general public witnessed it?
we all do stupid things, hopefully this tw@t will realise how lucky he was today and slow down in future before he kills someone.

Ronnie,
Gutted for you mate. Good that your ok and as everyone said - you ain't gonna lose your no claims. I know exactly what its like to sit there and watch someone drive into the back of you - happened to me last year
Make sure your insurance appoints you a solicitor for the injury claim - as said above, don't go to a claims recovery company. Make sure you go to the hospital and then go and see your doctor as these will both make a big difference to your claim.
With a bit of luck you may have your Evo earlier than you thought Hope to see you at the Bagshot meet, if you can still make it and feel up to it
Hope you feel better soon.
Cheers
Neil.

Ronnie - Sorry to hear of the accident, and glad you are safe and sound, as well as those kiddies - well done
Make sure you DEFO go to the hospital and get checked up. Not just for your health, but you can claim all expenses back from this arsehole then.
Chin up, DW

Guys, I just wonder..... Should Ronnie have called an Ambulance?? Then the police would have had to attend. This would meen a better chance of the other driver being convicted.
Maybe Ronnie did not feel he needed an Ambulance. many people tend not to call them.
I know our emergency services are stretched. But in this situation i would want the Police to attend even if it ment calling an ambulance...
Dont flame me for "Wasting their time" I would only do it IF i thought it was a Police needed situation.
Lets be fair they should be made to attend any incedents like this.. They give Parking tickets...

Good to hear you are OK. Remember to get that neck checked by a Chiropractor ASAP. It makes a big difference if you have it treated immediately rather than in 3 weeks time. I should know I am one..and I get whiplash approx once a year (don't ask.

Ronnie, I know how you feel - especially about the slow-mo effect.
Three years ago, I stopped at a mini roundabout to let cars emerge from the right (30mph limit) only to hear and then see a $%^& in a white sierra skidding toward the rear of the car: with my 6 months pregnant wife sat in the back
Couldn't move due to traffic, just took my foot off the brake and hoped. Luckily there was a witness who managed to stop me killing the bloke. Fortunately she was OK, but it was a very frightening experience.
Go to the hospital and get yourself checked out as you may have neck/back injuries that will take time to really emerge.

Thankyou all so much for your comments. I did'nt have time to respond last night because of being at the Hospital...where I was visited by about 10 of my mates who heard about it....Was a very funny site, although my neck is sore and looks like I have wiplash, bruised ribs. Nurses are also getting younger
As for the driver of the car, one of my visitors last night was a friend who in a traffic department in Thames Valley Police. He's taken my info, and will be speaking to Kent Police regarding the incident and taking from there for me...I did call the Police, but my description was "softer" than what happened, and they were attending other incidents and said "if no-ones injured and the roads clear-please exchange details and take it from there"...which of course I did...and at the time I was physically fine (no sign of Injury etc etc)
Going to see the family brief today, I'm not one for trying to sponge off people however...so I will leave it in his hands. After all, the CPS will probably ruin his life without my help. The witness statements are enough to prosecute-and I have a feeling there was a CCTV nearby too.
Anyway, thanks a million all...and cheers for the emails too Scoobynets a proper good place to get a group hug.

Damn Ronnie
I had a top night on Saturday at the Derby Arms in Epsom. I haven't laughed so much for ages whilst listening to the stories about the Screaming Jaffa ripping up Scotland.
Hope you get it sorted out soon mate.

Sorry to hear about your prang Ronnie. Glad to hear no-one was hurt. Staying in lane to protect the kids was a very brave and noble thing to do - a sign of a thoroughly good character.
The MX5's kind of poor driving is exactly the kind that the authorities should be targetting. I hope he gets what he deserves and can only afford to insure a moped from now on.
Here's hoping the insurance is sorted quickly - especially as injury claims can drag on.

Hiya Ronnie
Glad that your ok, thats the important thing
I'll offer you this advice as when i had my car crash (which one he says ) i had Physiopherapy after the first one (the second even thou it was more harsher a crash didnt give me whiplash) the difference is amamzing you can claim it back too so you should be ok there, but the earlier the better as it helps in the healing process but you going to feel stiff for a few weeks thou
Regards
Tony

Glad to hear you aren't hurt too badly, and you seem to have handled the situation as well as you could have done - probably saved those kids from injury so good on you! Definitely get a check up on your neck and back, otherwise they can be "wrong" for quite a while.
As for the Mazda driver, please get him charged with dangerous driving. If you don't, he'll just do something stupid again and maybe next time the other person won't be as lucky. People like that have to be scared into abandoning their dangerous habits, and a £60 fine won't do it. You have witnesses, so it should be an easy decision for the CPS to prosecute.
Hope you get better soon!

Ronnie,
Hope you're not too sore from the accident, and great awareness to avoid what could have been alot worse from your description.
I'm sure we are all guilty at some point of travalling at speeds in excess of the recommended limits especially on the motorways, but it sure sounds like this guy was going far to fast for the conditions, and the thought of seeing some idiot barrelling up behind you must be traumatic to say the least.
I was under the impression that you had 24 hrs to report an accident, and if you suspect you have back or neck injuries and also witnesses to the event then get yourself to your Doctor immediately and report the incident again.
Also as an aside and sorry to all you Volvo drivers out there but why Oh why do they buy a car with umpteen air bags on board and crumple zones everywhere and then put the shopping in the back seats and their kids in the rearward facing ones. They might as well be strapped to the toe-bars.

Ronnie,
glad to hear that you are OK... I know from personal experience what it's like to be hit by another vehicle on a motorway, quite weird, turned my vision funny colours for a few seconds That was by a Rover 800 series travelling at about 70MPH into me, stood still with hazards on (as was the traffic in front).... for some reason I did not suffer a whiplash injury, must be all the blubber
It never ceases to amaze me the plonkers on the roads. I commute just under 200 miles per day, and I've seen some pretty daft things. I think we all agree that Scoobs have very good roadholding in the wet, especially with Bridgestone S-02s on, so imagine my surprise at being passed by some twit in the pouring rain. Needless to say I was NOT surprised to see the modification he made to his vehicle about 2 miles down the road, Armco really is quite tough! I've also seen a white (what else?) transit van sideways on a motorway, carrering across all three lanes before toppling over onto its side on the hard shoulder Also seen a beemer have a blowout and pirouetting down the M1 ripping suspension members off and redistributing them across three lanes...
Those are the only 3 accidents I remember witnessing infront of me... needless to say I see wrecked cars pretty much every day. SCARY. Any excuse and plonkers crash.... it's warm so they're not watching the road.... it's late and they're falling asleep... it's early and they're blinded by the sun... it's wet and they have no grip, the list goes on and on. No amount of speed cameras is gonna cure this problem (if anything they're bloody dangerous things, the number of black lines leading up to them 'n' all... I'm sure that they HAVE CAUSED accidents!), only decent driver education and COMMON SENSE, but then this government isn't really interested in improving road safety, only the volume of their bank balance
Anyway, enough ranting.... glad that everyone is OK, and you will not lose your NCB (unless the dude in the MX-5 isn't insured, then it gets nasty.... if your insurance company has to pay out for your car and cannot claim back against his you can lose the NCB.... it's a no CLAIMS not a no BLAMES discount). Either way it should not affect the driver risk in the premium assesment.
Cheers,
Pat.

Ronnie,
get yourself to a doctor, shock and whhiplash are injuries. get to a police station to report the accident, give the witness details and tell them you wish to pursue a prosecution. Find out which county you were in on the M25 then make a complaint, all messages into Police Control rooms are recorded they should have attended the scene. get your insurance company to do its job and get your car replaced and make a claim
against the other driver
