On the site where I work, I've heard from colleagues that the security guards are actually stupid enough to jump out in front of cars that they consider to be speeding, in order to wave at them to slow down. I'm tempted to try and find out for myself, except there's speed bumps outside the security hut and doing much over 25mph is painful
JGM: What exactly would your company say if they found out that the site security guards weren't letting you in to do your job? You might find that they havea bit of clout when it comes to telling a jobsworthy security guard where to shove his hairdrier...

Jobsworths rule OK!
When I went for an interview, many years ago, I got a bit lost getting out of the carpark. Seeing the entrance/exit, I ignored an arrow pointing me the other way, and went towards the exit.
Now remember that this was about 1030am, so all the traffic that wanted in, was already in, and no-one but me was leaving.
"Sergeant" Holmes, the chief of security , leaps out of his office and gives me a ticking off. I accept it with good grace....I WAS in the wrong, but later, when I go for my first day's work, I discover that the old git put it on my works record.
I used to get my own back whenever he was on duty, by starting my "rally" Escort, switching all the lights on, (4 Cibies, and a pair of Biodes, all fitted with 100W bulbs), and leaving them pointing at his little office doorway until the car "warmed up".
He couldn't come out of it without being night-blinded!

I find it really funny when people belive their skin and bone will stop my 1.5ton vehicle instantly...
When I was seventeen a friend and I were out and about in town him on his super loud 50moped me on me old 250, approaching a shop that sat on the edge of a road (no path) a copper that thought we were speeding decided to step out from behind said shop with his hand held high screaming STOP....
OOooooopss bad mistake, mate bounces of his left side leaving copper spinning in the road at which point I spun him the other way at about 30mph (mates 50 flat out)...
I then fell off, not through hitting copper, through laughing me *** off at this **** cop...
Obviously testing out the stab proof vests and what better way.
Fantastic thanx for bringing back the memory.
