Dear Fat Boy,
Apex Photography reserves the right to disassociate itself from any dodgy photoshoping of its work. And lt's face it, you can't get any worse than your example
You'd never guess you're a 'man of leisure'

Hee hee. It was my first attempt ever, and I thought it best to make it as obvious as possible (that's my excuse anyway), in order to introduce a further note of levity, but this whole thing has kicked off in a whole new bonkers direction.

Meanwhile, back at the original thread.....
I believe that if I drive well within my own limits (which I do know!) with good tyres, checked geometry and better observation/anticipation and most importantly more fuel, then I should be fine
Pi$$ing myself laughing..... When will you wake up and realise - if your car is sitting at home in the garage, it can't spin.....
If it spins while *you* are out driving it, it's *your* fault. No ifs, buts, the moon was in Saturn or you had jelly and ice cream for tea, you overstepped the limits

PS - Josh - it looked to me like one of your better photos
Oh, and don't be misled by the suspension angle on Mr Fat's car - it was after lunch and the car was stationary

I had fuel surge once in my STI. That's in a total of 6 years of Impreza ownership, and a total of about 90k of driving. When it happened, I was accelerating off a roundabout onto the A31 heading up to the Hog's Back near Guildford.
Just lost a bit of power, and then it came back on. No drama, really, despite the fact that I was doing about 60mph at the time, on a damp road.
Guess it might have been something to do with having an unworn set of S02s on the car.

As ever completely wrong, it was before lunch. That was my wallet in the side pocket.
Oh and Josh did you notice how we spent some 15 laps leading the recent SIDC karting challenge and had no black flags despite, or was it because of, our team captain, Mr DTS, not being able to get out of bed? As opposed to the previous time, when we were graced with his presence, and he was black flagged twice in the first two laps

he was black flagged twice in the first two laps
I spun due to fuel starvation....
Incidentally, the last time I drove Bedford I left the track after the day closed and filled up......with 56.5 litres in a 60 litre tank
What fuel starvation?.....

What the hell have I been missing
EvilBevil
Belgium I have visited once and didn't like it one bit but this was not a 'nationalsitic' slur on your country nor your own personal character.
Surely you have heard jokes made at the expense of:-
A) The Irish being not too bright
B) The Scots being mean
C) The Americans being late for World War 2
D) And Belgium being an uninteresting place to live
I visited Belgium and did not enjoy it so hopefully I am still allowed to have my opinion on that . Don't take everything so seriously dude. It's all a bit of fun
With regards to your comments re the 'walls have ears' etc why don't you mail me your comments directly if you need any points clarified.
Regards

FatBoy,
you really need to learn how to drive - when was the last time you saw a WRC Impreza go round a corner like yours, rather than mine
Can we close this thread now peeerleeeese.
Was 'sposed to be light hearted - didn't realise the person I was poking fun at was so defensive and/or had such big chips on his shoulder(s)
Saxoboy - will end with one last comment - you're unwillingness to listen to sound advice means that you're either gonna be very stupid when you're old or very dead. What's your epitaph gonna read? "It wasn't my fault"?

When it was being driven by someone good
I agree about ending all this now - I thought my addition was in the spirit of yours ie defusing it all/having a bit of fun, but this thing is like lazarus.
Where is Blowdog when you need him ?

Hmmm,
That must be why Makkinnen, Burns, Mcrae, Solberg, Gronholm etc all tend to go sideways - and the namby pamby inexperienced wannabes don't. - saying that - the Subaru WRC cars are all STI's - so they know how to drive and don't use P1s and pretend to know

Saxoboy,
Don't know what's been going on for the last few pages, but it seems you've opened up a proper can of worms here.
As far as your fuel surge issue is concerned, it's one of the funniest things I've read in ages.......

Saxoboy,
A genuine question.
You said that part of the experience was a "bit of a blur" - someone mentioned you panicked and that is a fair "assumption" - what would you put it down to.
Oh - and fvck off my post - this was sposed to be light hearted

Hell yeah, I paniced big time when the car didn't respond to the usual commands. Its really scary when your trying to correct something but can't. As soon as the 'right things to do' didn't work my human instincts were to panic and try everything and anything else. It was a lost cause by then anyway and I knew that - hence the brown trousers and panicing. There simply wasn't enough power to sort the tail out and I certainly don't know how to cure bad oversteer caused by weight shifting without some power

Maybe one day some of you guys might mature enough to realise that obscene or psuedo-obscene language only weakens your argument and shows that something is lacking somewhere!
The use of the kind of personal abuse in some the posts in this thread also does nothing to advance your case.

I had fuel surge once, it was on the way to a petrol station to re-fuel my fuel tank in my car, which is an Impreza (turbo). It happened when I was going around a roundabout. The car just 'bogged' down, I hit my head on the windscreen and my open packet of smarties went everywhere. You don't want to know what happened to the empty tube
But you're probably not interested as I didn't crash

...and my open packet of smarties went everywhere
I agree that most often with surge I'd expect my car just to bog down but at the higher than roundabout speeds I was doing and with far less grip at the rear than the front in my situation I believe the combination of the factors which were triggered by fuel surge induced a spin.

I'm sorry SB, but you're wrong.
You've had a Scoob for three months. There are many people who have contributed to this thread who have had a Scoob for far longer than that, and many who have subjected it to the higher cornering forces associated with track driving (some on slicks). How do you explain the fact that none of them have had a 'fuel surge induced spin'?
You may think everyone's getting at you. I can't speak for anyone else, but my motivation is this: you've been on this board for a while, running a Saxo and hoping to save up for a Scoob. You've clearly aspired to this for some time, and now you have one. I don't want to come on here and see that:
a) You've severely bent it
b) You've injured yourself
c) You've killed yourself
d) You've injured or killed someone else.
Why can't you see that?

Your scenarios are very unlikely I'm affraid, I'm just not that kind of person. You don't know me, so accept it! I think too much about what I'm doing and the consequences to just go daft with my new car. Lots and lots of people have commented how reserved I am considering that I'm still youngish with a fairly quick car.

I was being lazy and looking accross them from the outside as opposed to getting under the car for a proper look. From the outside were on their very last legs but when I got under the car they were very, very bad.
Stupid I know! That's the point of my 'near smash' post to get some people on this site to have a think about these things and maybe get on their hands and knees next time they wash the car.
