Unhappy

dsmith: accepted. I know it's pie in the sky time, but it's the lesser royals that get up my nose.
Funnily enough, I had a telling conversation last year in France. A group of English were talking to a group of French on a campsite, and the French were infatuated with our royals. They found it hard to accept that the English on site were either anti-royal, or, like me, accepting in principal, while wishing for reform.
I pointed out that it was easy to love something you don't have to pay for, and there was a profound silence, before they all agreed with me.

It's a shame that to some people it's all about the money.

mr (d)evolution

have you slid a couple of rungs back down the evolutionary ladder? what *are* you on about? mpg figures? try not using your right foot so much for starters.

ok i give in, the NAO figures are rubbish, charles kennedy is the PM, prince philip had diana assassinated and aliens ate my hamster. you can say they're rubbish till you're blue in the face but the trouble is, the figures are there in black and white, as ratified by parliament. go check out NAO on the web - and a simple bit of googling will take you straight to the right part of the BBC news archive.

what more can i say? i know - you're paranoid!

so what if you think you can raise extra revenues from selling off the crown estates and binning the monarchy? perhaps you can. who knows? do you think it likely? until there's a financial need to do it (which there isn't) it's just irrelevant kite flying.

feudal system? where? you stole my serf, didn't you? mi'lud, put that man in the pillory! look out peasants, i declare my right of prima noctis!

sorry matey, not good enough. you are the weakest link: goodbye.

Just to help you out I will explain that I used those analogies to illustrate my point about how easy it is to manipulate data to the ends of the person doing it. It amuses no end that you have only raised one good reason for the monarchy being there namely the money they generate which, for the reasons stated I disagree with. Your other comments were just patriotic rubbish pretty unsuited to this day and age.
Before you try and claim that the monarchy encourage's exports and trade I'll will point out that there the countless examples of exports dropping after royal visits.

You have chosen to ignore my point about the feudal system
and I will also point out that one of the Monarchs roles is 'to strengthen Government with force of religion' Since the church of England was created on the whim of a Monarch I wonder if they Edit the C of E version of the bible to remove any mention of all men being created equal. The Monarchy represents a Legacy of victors and losers in battles for control of a country they have no divine right to be there and yet you are under the opinion that they have. If I were to conquer England would you then accept me as you moral and spiritual leader or would I have to have a few generations of family suceed me before you blindly proclaim my Heirs as kings and support them with idoitic comments on scooby net?

I'm sorry I'm afraid I didd'nt realize just who I was dealing with.
A man who quotes Ann Robinson a year after even the biggest idiots have stopped using that phrase. It becomes a bit clearer now why you need to have a leader. I'll tell you what next time you need to resort to petty insults try and try and try and you might, just might find dome of your own words to use.
