Trying to talk someone into buying a scoob is different, normally they have to be talked out of it

Well at least in my case.

I've just bought my second scooby. I had enough money to get an Evo but decided to stick with scoobies as its just me. I love the way it looks, the way she handles and the way she just smiles at me every morning when I start her up.

I have just bought one although I've not got it home yet.
So far I've only taken a fifteen minute test drive so far but compared to my current car (Ford Puma 1.4) it's amazing.
The first time I managed to accelerate properly (to the red line in second) I'm sure I muttered "Jesus christ" loud enough for the saleman to hear it. Suffice to say after that I was hooked - so why not go and test drive one if you're even semi-thinking about it.

No offence ladies and gentlemen but i think that our friend should drive also some other cars, like the Audi Coupe Quattro Turbo.....Escort Cosworth....early EVOs....All within the price range. The safest bet is the scooby but if you dare to be different try some of the previously mentioned cars.

Stewart,

Same here. I had planned to test drive the WRX and a Civic Type R on the same day, but after 20 mins in the WRX I didn't even bother testing the Type R!!!

Whilst it wasn't quite as fast as I was expecting, we were in monsoon conditions on a very twisty, bumpy b-road, wipers full-on, first time I'd driven the car, and I was f-l-y-i-n-g!

After going twice around the roundabout at the end of the run (the dealer suggested I try to provoke the back-end out...is he MAD!?) (I did by the way...on lift-off, 2nd time round) I went even faster on the way back, and there was a section, about 150-200 metres long...hill at either end dipping down into a sharp, narrow s-bend, with 3 cars at various stages. I got to the crest and the first car was just entering the s and the dealer must have sensed my hesitation and said, quietly but confidently "go on". So I dropped from 4th to 2nd, pulled into the oncoming lane, into 3rd at the start of the S, past 1 car already, both hands on the wheel, through the negative camber like a scalextric and then up the hill past the third car, comfortably back onto my side before it rose to the blind crest. The rest of the drive was like a dream sequence...I had so much adrenaline and sheer amazement coursing through me, we got back to the dealers and I bought it there and then. I pick it up at 3.30pm tomorrow, complete with body-coloured Morettes. How will I sleep tonight????

Listen..

I just bought my first UK Scoob, after wanting one for a year.
I was gonna get an import, as u seemed to get a bit more for your money.
After looking at several, I decided to leave it for a while as I was getting quoted nearly a grand to insure,33 yrs old with full no claims.
Anyway, just started a new job, and B**ger me if my new boss and the owner of a lurvly UK 99 Imprezza.
After some long negotiating (including convincing him he wanted to sell it) I bought it off him.
He reccomended I tried Liverpool Victoria for insurance.
Nearly fell off my chair when they quoted me 579 of your English Poinds for a years fully comp, WITH mods. (full decat HKS, and MIM rims).
So there you go, do it. I love mine.
BTW turns out it was mega streams scooby I was buying, hence he been scouring the country for a new one.

Good Luck

Edcase,

I had a couple of similar experiences when I bought mine a couple of months ago; I test drove a MY00 wagon with PPP: first the salesman had a go - boy did he know the road - and I was astounded by the grip round one bend in particular. My brain told me we'd go through the hedge for sure so I grabbed hold of the seat in fright! "God, I didn't think that was possible!"

When we swapped over, again the salesman sensed my care/hesitation, which, of course, I overcame with suitable encouragement, along the lines of "Right, drop a gear, now floor it! Go go go!!..." 2nd, 3rd, 4th on and on past cars and trucks in a matter of seconds, roundabout ahead, start to ease off "OK look at the speedo!..." 1xxmph wow!! Horse ON!!!!!! Now I know why most Scooby garages are located in the country! I didn't look back.

Paul.
