why is my car quicker than a scooby
#33
'We'.... you make it sound like a cult.
I don't know anyone who doesn't like Scoobies, but it just amazed me how everyone got so defensive.
The sensible thing would have been not to respond, you don't take the bait when driving, so why do it when some1 tests the water with a cheeky post?

Mr Tim_P
It's been said time and time again, no-one who drives a scoob is likely to be anti-speeding. Neither is anyone able to put hand on heart and say that have never broken a speed limit. I have SP50 to prove.
The problem is, 50 mph past the local school ain't clever, and in the current climate of speed crackdown is bl@@dy stupid.
Likewise 100mph down the M4 at 8am is t@55er territory.
Face it any sub 9second to 60 car is likely to at least keep up on a normal public road (assuming you are at least sensible with regard to speed etc).
Drive a nice car, drive slowly, be seen!!!

no I don't - we as in a group of like minded people who regularly use this board.
If your first post on the board was intended to incite a response as this one obviously was what can you expect. If I posted saying your escort cossie was a queers car, what would you say?

hi guys,
a lot of you lot know about 1.0 ****ty nova's with peco (language) BB4 back boxes...farting around racing anything in sight...
i adore scoobies, i will own one one day...
be careful what u race though lads...
i know of a couple of nova's that look near enuff standard, but have tuned 2.0 16v in them...and they were built to embarass scoobies and the like...
i doubt the cav turbo would beat a scooby (unless it's has a few £k spent on it) but then again, i'm not a fan of the cav...(look at my site and you'll see what i'm a fan ov )
although your cars are very quick as standard, you are seen as a 'goal' for cheaper, older cars to beat so people can brag down the pub to their mates...so appearances can be deceptive, look out for street sleeper mota's

hands up who thinks admins should lock these threads as soon as they appear?
/me puts my hand up.
there will always be someone who is faster / stronger / better looking so who cares? just enjoy the car you drive and appreciate other cars. Variety is the spice of life! how boring would it be if everyone drove scoobs eh

Hey, Mellow Yellow, can I take you up on that trackday offer please?
I have a four wheel drive Vauxhall.
How about Goodwood, I quite like it, suits my car well.
I'm serious.
If I don't beat at least a few impreza turbos, I'll give you your money back, ok?
Cheers
Russ

LOL, speak of the devil (well the guy who scared the P1 on the motorway) and he is sure to appear, How do Russ
I think that would be a good day..... any Scooby owners here up for Goodwood next August-ish time ??
So far there are 2 Calibra Turbos and a Cavalier Turbo going
Anyone here ??
p.s. Its only for a good laugh so anyone here with a chip on their shoulder about their car or is only going for a bitchin session (I can name a few) need not apply

I personally don't think these threads should be deleted. They brighten the day somewhat! Maybe move them to the muppet forum, but not delete.
The cynic in me suspects that some of these threads are started by Scoobynet regulars who are a bit bored and want to liven things up a bit.
While I'm on the subject, where did the koni equiped Scooby killing 1.3L Cavalier driver go? Did a moderator track his IP address and threaten to out him? Or was he a schoolboy who got bored with the 3 R's? Reading, wRiting and Riling Scoobynetters...

Its amazing that the number of "one post wonders" multiplies on a thread like this, and they all slating scoobies and their owners, strange that.
Tim, im so mightily impressed with the large bhp claims u have for the cossies, how many engine rebuilds have the cars had? And no it wasnt my P1 that u were playing with.

Saw an article about the Cav Turbo the other day. It has lost its 4x4 because slightly uneven tyres on the front and back are just too much to cope with you see (same as Impreza 4x4 - I think not). It only managed to get to 60 in about 7.7 seconds and 'felt like a standard 16v'. Reliable and very quick car then. Must sell my Scoob ;-)
Also, Cavalier stands for:
Comfortably below Average Vehicle All Laidened with Ill informed Engineering err... Rhubarb.

5 years ago a friend of mine had a cav turdo, at the time a had a really modded Clio 16v (175 bhp showed on the rollers!) upto 90mph (private road) I would leave it for dead.
You wont see ant 0-60 times as you have to change gear twice in the cav! (six speed box)
Quite a funny read is this thread.
I'd go with the GT comment

I'm not surprised at some of the responses on here. Most of the Scooby community work hard to buy what is in their eyes an ideal car, practical car and better than average performance. Then someone comes along and basically says I think your car is crap. Now everyone is entitled to their opinion, and this is mine, but I tend to defend things that have cost me around 20 grand to save up for and buy (or get on finance), because I think it is a good purchase and don't like to be told it's crap.
Why can't people accept each car for what it is, and accept those that are heavily modified. If I posted that I could beat you in a micra, I would get slated and laughed off. If I then said it was one I had seen on TV (and I wish I owned it) that was used in ice racing, with 400+ bhp and 4WD you might think differently.
I tend not to race people on the open road, I might egg them on a bit up to the speed limit, but if they can afford to get tickets and points on their license then go for it. I can't and won't. Tends to be why I drive like an old bloke I enjoy my 0-speed limit and cornering ability. The impreza is not the worlds best car and by far not the worst.
Enjoy what you have while you still have it whatever it may be....just don't put neon strips underneath

Like I said to the D1ckhead who tried to run me off the road in a Frontera (Vauxhall what a coincidence).
I do not speed in built up areas!
I do not tailgate other cars!
My car is best used on the track and that is where I intended to use it.
I certainly would not race anybody especially if I had passengers that were children, this bloke wanted to race me in his **** 5hip with his 6 year old daughter in the back.
Can you believe the amount of ***** out there.
Just because I have a fast does not mean I want a race with every car out there.

Quite agree, which is why I tried to say enjoy what you have why you have it, and that was meant for both parties, not just the Scooby folk.
Donning flame suit first....I like some of the modded cheaper cars. Goes to show that you can make some pretty crap standard factory cars quite good if you put your mind to it. How many people have modded a Scoob?
Yes it's good out of the box, but most factory cars can be improved upon, it just depends to what extent you want to go.

Russs,
The gauntlet is down.....maybe we should organise a Vauxhall/Subaru track day, I'm sure my ol knacker of a motor would enjoy a run out !
P.s; As with drivers, not all P1's are the same
P.p.s; Dont forget, this is a light hearted thread and no need for seriousness here
