why is my car quicker than a scooby
#61
After running 370bhp for 5 years and 40,000 miles the cossie popped some pistons. It is owned by one of my cossie mates and it was rather embarrassing against the P1.
Given the choice I'd have a Scooby, but not sure I could cope with their alleged clutch problems which many people have experienced upon trying to use their car vaguely in the fashion it was intended.
If the achilles heel of the cav turbo is it's transfer box, the Scooby clutch must be right up there with it.
Oh and by the way.. from

Mellow Yellow, will be good to get a few ppl going to it and would also be a chance for me to get into the passenger seat of an Impreza to find out first hand what its all about (and a P1 no less )..... if thats ok with you
And it is only a laugh, lets hope if anyone does come that they are of the same frame of mind as you and me or it will just be a miserable day

Mine has a little methanol thrown in, does that count?
Mellow - I know a little about some of the cars run by people on here, and I wouldn't dare to comment on how mine might fare against them on the track
Don't worry, I'm chilled, was just serious about really wanting to have a blast with a few "nice" scoobys on track. Not that we'd be racing or anything
Keep trying to join in with some of the local runs up here, but so far something always seems to get in the way.
One day soon......
Edit because - Ian, sorry, missed your post 'cos I skimmed! Will mail you later.
Oh, and bring it on!!

Muppet forum, ah home I'm sure it can't be far away now
Co-incidentally there is no reason why this could not be the case, when I was running my scoob in I came off a roundabout beside Inverness, changing up at 4,000 rpm, and watched a Cav Turbo come off the roundabout a couple of hundred yards behind me, proceeding to cruise past me as if I was standing still, what made it amusing was that he was towing a trailer at the time.
That car was massively quick, I'd say far quicker than my now run in Scoob, don't know what mods he had, but it shifted.
As is the case with all cars you can modify them to be quicker than almost anything else on the road. I don't know why people on this bbs who are normally fairly sane seem to get upset whenever some one suggests a 'lesser' car is quicker than theirs
The tone of the original post made it obvious the poster was trying to provoke a response, and surprise, surprise he got one.
Not that I'm complaining, I quite enjoy reading these threads every now and again
Now, will I make it back to the muppet forum before this thread?

Cav-Turbo,
I got overtaken by a Vauxhall-Turbo once,
it was on the back of a breakdown truck.
Or was it on Eurostar. I cannot remember.
The only good Vauxhall was the 1.5 TD Nova, and that had an Izusu engine.
Don't make be laugh too much about the "amazing Vauxhall", their naff image is only exceeded by their ****-poor reliability
and complete to55er drivers.
Sad ba5tards.

What's the point in having a quick car if you aint gonna race it - you can do this relatively safely on the road you know. OY Scooby owners - not all roads are busy, and most don't involve passing schools and children. So go on Scooby owners, have a go when it's safe, and stop being so patrononizing to ppl who don't have a scooby.
By the way, i've raced a couple of scoobies on fairly empty roads, been beaten once, but not by much - and saying as I was in a 1.9 gti thats OK - means F all of course - but it's a laugh - thats why we all like fast cars.
P.S. - i'd prefer a P1 to a Cav Turbo (even though I drive an VAUXHALL Astra Gsi), but I am more likely to afford a Cav Turbo - and for less than £10k could probably buy one and mod it to go as quick, or quicker than a P1 - you do have to live within your means - and as I do a worthwhile job I could probably never afford a P1

embarrass scoobys, yeah they are nice but all you lot seem to think that there is nothing at all quicker than you.
a lightly tuned 2.0 16v nova will beat a uk spec imprezza - fact, as proven at many quarter mile days, get your head out of your **** davyboy.
i am not here slagging imprezzas but get real, you really arent the best cars on the road.
