im not one to be biased, and i am not a 1 make man (although i will always hate fords).

working as a mechanic, and being in part ownership of the buisness, i have had the chance to drive many cars, these include 4500BHP jag XJ-12's and the like. i have driven a few scoobys and liked 'em, a lot, and i wouldn't mind one, but for me the best value for money is a GTE. when i seel it there will be a supra on my drive, thanks to fast and furious, however until then i will stick to the GTE

also, it would never stick on the twisty bits, and 0-60 i wouldn't be that close, however, both doing 70 im afraid that simple physics will show the GTE pull away due to only a 17% power loss through an F20VX 2WD box, compared to the 42% in a scooby 4WD box. thats why they are excelent rally cars but not in the BTCC..

lets just agree that they excel in their own areas...

Anyway i'm off to play Operation Flash point you boys can argue with each other. Come back after a test drive. PS the impreza won the last round in NewZeland, don't spend so much time down the pub, in the car park's, and then you would have known that.

Oh dear, i had a look at Dave's Site. Nice page but an air filter and bits of exhaust a fast car does not make, oops nearly forgot the painted rocker cover. The fast and the furious is a good title for the private activity you boys will probably spend most of the next 5 years doing, the film sucked, or is that the generation gap. I would love to see this JAG with 4500 BHP thats about 900 BHP per 1 litre your mate could get a job at william's building there engines.

Never said it would make it a fast car! in fact looking back I would class it as Nippy, well compared to my Scooby anyway!!

I was into modded cars then, but Subaru did most of it for me this time round!

You guys are a laugh -

1. I believe a scoob won the last WRC rally.
2. If you want a post race come on down to the muppet forum - I'm sure you can prove your posting worth there

Unhappy

Hi people.
Just thought I would add my thoughts to this.
Before I start yes you have avother Vauxhall owner posting your site.
I agree with the points Meady made, I own a Cav GSI and before you all start thinking "PAH pile o ****e" I have had some very respectable results against UK scoobies recently. Now I dont profess to whip every scooby going, there are some very quick ones out there and respect to them.
What I would like to say is that while I enjoy modifying my car (as do alot of you guys im sure) Does it always end up having to resort to the petty "My car is faster than yours" syndrome? Come guys lets get with the real world and respect each other. I have owned Renault 19 1.4 energies, Ford Orion's and Sierra's some of which were fast others not, Also an Astra GTE 16v which as far as speed goes was the dogs, now I have my GSI quick and refined just how I like to be.
Bottom line?? I have respect for everyone out there in the modifying / fast car scene dont brand everyone because of the boyracers out there. Let them live in their own little worlds while we live in the real one.
Nuff said I think.

Yo!

Anyone got any idea where I can get a cherrybomb tail pipe for my Vauxhall Omega? My scaffold pipe has rusted off ands it time for the old V6 to have a quality piece of kit to blow blue smoke through!

Peace to all!

Considering the initial post in this thread was to calm everything down there sure seems to have been a lot of newly registered Vauxhall owners quick to have a go. Grow up and get a life people, aren't you supposed to be working anyway? You're sucking bandwidth the muppets would like to use.

Hi peeps,
I knew this thread was a bit heated when it turned 3 pages, so I came in to say hi. As my name suggests, I own a Nitrous equipped mkII Astra GTE, I also own a cossie, but if you look at my post count then you can see I have made my home here. Well, not quite here, but "downstairs" in the muppet forum where madness is the norm and sesible is a stranger. I have a feeling this thread is muppet bound cos all threads that go a bit daft end up there. If you fancy following it then come and have a look. go to the hop to bar and click on muppet show!. There you will be assimilated and be subjected to muppet rantings and corner races (of which Fastbloke is a professional at) to your hearts content.
You lot have shown promising muppet skills with the following traits in evidence:
1/ obsessive compulsive posting disorder
2/ posting, then thinking (NOT the other way round )
3/ no reason or point to your posts at all
Come on in lads, resistance is futile....
astraboy.
P.S. Wibble.

Hey guys, this is the general forum.

Come over to the muppet forum which is designed to have stuff like this in and a place to increase your post count.

Whoever is asking if I am good looking can ask the opinions of other guys on the this BBS but in the muppet forum. I don't give a crap about who thinks I am good looking or not...........

Any of you who wish to see if they are faster than a scoob are more than welcome to try against me on track.

I do not like bull5hitters and likewise I do not do it back, I can drive fast and drive well.

If you do not have anything constructive to say, either go on the muppet forum or go away.

Ta very muchly.

PS to the person who got upset about my previous comments it sounds like you lot had the sense of humour removal, it was all very tongue in cheek and pedantic, I will make my comments a lot more simple next time.

Michelle.

and the numerical man joins the scoobynet as well, fresh to join his Vauxhall friends, even though I don't have a Scooby, or a Vauxhall. Maybe one day someone will actually make a Rover Bulletin Board.

Anyway, from reading this thread it's basically just like the Vauxhall one aint it, just I don't know anyone-lol.

So, if we're talking Scoobies and so on, isn't the EVO6 miles better, I do believe it s.......

Cool

Well there aint nowt wrong with my vauxhall astra 2ltr di 16v but would i change my scoob for a vauxhall?
NOPE!
And the reason is???
Vauxhall dont make a car thats as good for all round use and thats as practical for everyday use (and lots of performance thrown in too!)
Yes there is loss in transmission, but you also get all 4 wheels driven at the same time, less if no wheelspin, grip when needed and the fact to know that there aint a nova out there thats as good
Yes my car is Japanese and vauxhalls are american, the concept astra with its big engine and its 440ish bhp probably wont even make it to production as there has to be a market for that car, and for the cost id rather buy that 1001bhp Bugatti much more in the name than GM.
Now if you vauxhall owners have had enough of trying to give us grief you can wonder back to your board and go pick up your 16yr olds whilst the rest of us have a life to lead

No-9, yes the evo is an excellent car and quite a few scoob owners have gone down that road but they like any other car have their faults, the biggest being running costs and the fact that you can only get about 150miles out of a tank of fuel
IMHO the EVO is more of a track car than a road car, its ride can be harsh on some of our roads and even though it flys down good roads like Motorways you need to be able to hit a pot hole and carry on, not end up in a hedge
The reason i purchased my scoob over an evo4 was the fact that the scoob was cheaper and better suited to the uk.
Great car but id have to keep the scoob for normal use
