nothing wrong with an 17/18 year old owning a scoob even if mummy and daddy have paid for it,id say fair play m8, dont know where people get the idea that they dont deserve the right to drive one, if they wanna pay 2.5k plus in insurance they are fools but if they can afford it then hey , wouldnt you do it, this sort of snobbery dont do the image much good neither, with regard to no insurance plenty people do it and they will get their due in the end

I think you lot are missing my point, although badly worded, I did not mean age, but more so the max power brigade - a 'mentality' of people who can now afford scoobs...I personally don't like to be tarred with the same brush as these people who go around racing their Scoobs against Nova's outside schools...

Think maybe we need to qualify Max Power. Some of these guys spend more money on a car than a classic Scoob is worth.
Surely looking more at the Nova/Fiesta guys who buy these cars because that is
1. All they can afford
2. All they want.
3. What their mates have
If you can afford a scoob (and now some are cheap) then good luck to you. Don't hear anyone complaing about how other cars are tainted just because some are driven by scumbags. As long as I want mine I'll keep it. Quite sure Jaguar were'nt concerned when it became the bigger criminals car of choice.

I'm away out to drive round & round & round the town now with the occasional stop in Macdonalds.

I am 46, am I too old to hand out with the Max Power brigade?
I hope not.

They must be cheap if 17 year olds can afford to run them after 1 years expreience in work....or maybe I am out of touch with how much 17 year olds with 1 years experience are worth!
Well, IT grads coming out of University (until very recently) expected to walk into £30k jobs (in the South East at least). One of the younger guys in my department a couple of years back was complaining (loudly) about how hard done by he was having left university and was working for us for about £25k (with little experience). He was compaining about his "YTS wages" which TBH, gets right up my nose

Sorry, rant over

RE: the Max Power brigade, it's a fine line isn't it between the traditional "Max Power" look cars and a large number of people on this board who own Scoobs - just have a look in Member's Gallery.....where do you draw the line? Perhaps you could classify it by how and where the Scoob is being driven (as the look/sound of it is hardly a good indicator is it )

Perhaps we should all just admit that we're part of the MP brigade? (except PWLewis of course )

Davyboy,

You missed off puffa jacket......

Matt

P.S. I've got a puffa jacket (and baseball caps too ) but I don't wear any of them whilst in the car because my car has a heater - I wear my coat outside, when it's cold and a baseball cap when outside and it's sunny, usually when on holiday in some hot and sunny country (well it's not going to be in the UK is it? )

Its easy to pay for insurance on a sports car when you live wuth mum and dad though.
I wouldn't say it's easy - I live at home with mum and dad and what with my motorbike, marina charges for my yacht and a £500 a week coke habit, I sometimes struggle to pay my monthly insurance installments.

I suppose I could move out as I do have a few properties, but I would lose out an all that income from the rent.

And on top of all this my parents charge me £50 a month for keep. It's anything but easy.

Im 22 had all sorts of cars and just sold my scoob to but an escort cossie. The scoob had new wheels, exhaust system, filter, splitter and all sorts of stuff. The same stuff the so called max power boys have. I have been the max show in birmingham for the last 3 years, go to cruises when i can and i sometimes drive the car like it was stolen. I will continue to be like this with the cossie cos im not bothered, its up to me. I have always been insured and have never picked up any points on my licence. I also have taken good care of all of my cars and had them all serviced properly.
Before i bought my scoob i must have been to view over 10, most were owned by people 25-35 and all were in s**t order. These people would not be classed as max boys and have no respect for their cars, maybe i fall into the max catergory and yet all my cars have been sound. Too many people on here are snobs and should leave younger people to do what they want!
Cheers AD.

Just a quick post to remind you there's a key on your keyboard (probably in between the comma and '/' slash) that puts a full stop in at the end of sentences (and that the key next but one to it should probably be held down when you type the next letter after the full stop).

Apologies for being picky, but it didn't make it very readable.
