Did you get the bulb blowing issue sorted ?. How did you remove the heated rear window s/w (and dismantle)as mine needs a new bulb

You have to remove sunglasses tray first, (well I did it makes it easier) push switch out from behind and disconect.

Once out, you will need to use a little screwdriver either side to release the two little lugs. Be careful as the switch mechanism is quite long and if you force it too much you will break it, as I did

The part in question makes the switch stay in when you depress it, all I can describe it as is, a long flat "u" shape, as you depress the switch it goes over a little dimple in the switch to hold the switch in the ON position.

I ended up super guing mine back together still holding out as well.

Once you get it open, watch the spring doesn't fly out, then remove the rubber light bulb holder, replace the bulb in the same manor and try put it back together the same way, LOL This is tricky but can be done with patience.

Then connect switch up again and switch on the lights, "Hey Presto" the switch should now illuminate, saving you £70. (thats what I was quoted for a new one from dealers)

I have a UK MY99. To get the switch out I just pulled out the cup holder and "pushed" a small flat screwdriver down the right hand side of the hazard warning switch.There's a lug on the right holding it in and the heated rear screen switch fits against the hazard switch. Takes some guts - but be patient - don't force it to much and with a little wiggling she'll pop out.
Separating the switch is just how steve explained, but there is no spring to worry about in the heated rear switch.I also left mine in front of the fire for 1/2 hour (not to melt it) just to warm the plastic and give it less chance to snap.
JUST TO ADD - Replace the buld by stripping the old bulb out of the rubber holder and treading a new bulb back in. Don't do what I did and ask suppliers for a bulb still in the holder - Doh. ( I got some fuuny looks and replys a long the lines of "what the f**ks that")

Bulbs blew again last night.
It's getting a pain changing them every two days
My supplier stated they were 12 volt but I'll try a different supplier to make sure I get the right ones. In the mean time does anybody have any ideas ?


Forgot to add I have not started the car with anything switched on.(lights,radio etc)
