So is it the conclusion that the later turbo ones have the best handling and the least lag?

What reg plates do the rev 3/4/5 start on? How do you tell the difference between rev 1, 2 and on?

A turbo'd MR2 sounds like cheap fast fun!!!

Andy, the Rev 3 is the best one to go for, and started from 94. The way you can tell is the spoiler, wheels and rear lights.

Rev 1 - 14" 5 spoke wheels, wrap around spoiler.
Rev 2 - 15" 5 spoke wheels, wrap around spoiler.
Rev 3 - 15" 5 spoke wheels, stood up spoiler, and round rear lights.

Great cars IMHO

If you want to be precise, the Rev 3 started on the 10/93. But whos counting?! Anything with round rear lights is a rev 3.
I pick mine up on saturday!!!!

I've seen a few for what I would consider resonable money!!

I think a test drive would settle any doubts!

Go for it Andy, you wont regret it - feels very special when you sit inside - much different to a "normal" car

Took mine out yesterday in the wet, and for once decided I was going to push it, to see just how bad they are supposed to be in the wet. Due to people slating the handling I have never pushed in the wet. Mine is the non utrbo though.

Pushed it very hard round the country roads up here, wet leaves, mud etc everywhere, and it never once stepped out of line, even when I overcooked things on a few bends

could be argued that Rev 1's (89-92) had best handling under skilled driver. Normal drivers may prefer re 2('92) onwards. I am not a skilled driver but drive a rev 1 and in the dry I cannot get it (nor want to) to lose traction now that I have upgraded to 15's and wider tyres. I did spin it once before I upgraded.

Rev 3s start on a 94(L) and have the smaller turbo with less lag(apparently). The set-up of rev2s are the same as the rev3+, giving equal handling.

I've had both revs 2&3, and the performance difference (when stock) is neglegeable.

The only difference I noticed was that the turbo gave up @6500rpm on the rev2 and about 7000rpm on the rev 3.

Is the MR2 an all weather car, ie can I drive it safety in the snow?

Erm.......NO!

I've only ever driven mine once in the snow (and it wasn't really heavy) and I spun the car twice whilst only doing 10-15mph. Nothing I could do to stop it going.

It's fine in the wet, heavy or otherwise as long as you respect it, but a definite no-no in the snow from my experience.

Yep MR2s are less than useless in the snow. Spun both the ones I had on flat straight roads. Uphill forget it. Top cars the rest of the year though

I had a Rev 3 GT Turbo prior to the STI Type R.
Was features in Banzai/Jap Performance and was fasted car oin the day.

4.6s 0-60/
1/4 mile at 12.6

My mate now has it and it is now running 335bhp /290lbft

Truly awesome car in a straight line.
Can be good around corners if set up properly.

How often does it snow in this coutry?

....I would never base a car purchase on something that happens less than just a few days a year.

Yip, had a 94 t-bar turbo.....for the money, they are the quickest car you'll get, quicker than a gt4 etc....
Very easy to maintain, although mine only done about 20mpg (got quite a bit of revving though!!) and needed topped up with oil every 3 weeks!!!
Just not so grate if you've got a bird in a pecurious posistion...might need to take the roof off (as i had to do ;-)...but great for the summer)
