Angry

I have received many emails regarding the day at Bedford. Which I have answered.

I will issue refunds as soon as I receive the list of names from Palmer regarding who was refused on the day.

Easy guys.

Lisa, FWIW, in this whole thread, I only read utter praise for SIDC, nothing critical at all. The bat comment was meant as banter/joke, nothing more nothing less, and I honestly don't think anyone meant any harm towards you.

Rich, social thing can be arranged Hotel "Le Crusty Sock" awaits you

Lisa and Phil I think you're taking the bat comment outta context.

There nothing ominous meant in that post I'm sure

1 thing I'd like to say:

Mr Palmer (who has a vested interest ) stated that a "few" were trying to cheat the system and "they" are responsible for runinig anyones day.

That is in itself utter bull. Anyone who'd like to say "Bravo, straight from the horses mouth blah balh blah" - that's a totally biased self defensive comment.

The real issue is being skirted around.

David -you state that a few of peoples comments smack of arrogance when stating 2we won't be going to Bedfors again"

Maybe true - but JP said he would be "reviewing whether they would want to carry on with this type of business"

As a consumer of an over crowded trackday market I'm pretty sure I can see who is being arrogant here........

Anyway -off to Donington tomorrow - no noise limits we'll fail and £75 for the day.

Not being arrogant but guess where we'll be going in future?

Doesn't matter if the 'bat comment' was supposed to just be a bit of fun, you've obviously upset lisa by it

Cool

Craig, you'll only do Dono because it's close :P

Dave, a Spa trackday would actually be a real good thing wouldn't it ? Now I can't even organize my own underwear for the next morning, but if the SIDC is interested, I would happily help in contacts/translations if needed.

I do know the Honda club hires the circuit for a whole weekend each year (September), and I'm sure that the combined clubs of say UK/France/Holland should be able to do the same.

Before I ever part with my Impreza in 10 years time , I would *love* to do Spa at least once.

I know Wheeltorque do a combined Spa/Nurburgring package (or at least they did) but it's not the same as having a load of Imprezas and the occasional XTR on there.

Do we have a plan ?

Talking

Theo, if you could call them and get some prices for dates near the weekends, then maybe we could could arrange a Spa/Nurburgring long weekend?

How cool would that be It might mean a bit of work, but I would happily do a bit.

Theo,

We're doing Donington because we know they won't change their noise limits on a whim. Plus we get one of the best proper circuits in Britain for a fantastic price.
2 or 3 days for 1 Bedford. Not a hard choice eh?

They'll probably laugh as we go past at 85.5db

As I pointed out to David in a private email, its all very well saying something in context to a previous post, but frankly Lisa and I don't have the time to wade through 14 pages of drivel. Therefore all she saw were posts from angry people wanting their money back and talk of storming up to people's doors to get it.

Frankly this whole issue has no place being "discussed" here. We are still waiting for Bedford to come back to the club with information, namely
a) how many cars they think ran on the day
b) who were kicked off for noise
c) their official position on whether the individuals kicked off will get refunds.

It is only when the SIDC are presented with this information from bedford in an official response will we be in a position to act.

Any speculation or heresay/opinions are in my eyes a waste of time until this happens and not productive.

Thats all folks.....

David, I think the idea of taking the XTR thing.... to Bedfrord, was for a shake down tetst and to find out what its going to do.

There is only one place at Bedford that you could harm the car. Where as at Dono you have a few.

Dan

PS. Adding that some of the comments are/have been taken out of context. The SIDC where NOT to blame for the issues on the day, Bedford where to blame fr changing the limits. NO-ONE ELSE...

Lee/Lisa, I like most think that you both provide an outstanding service to the club. Good luck with that you decide to do.

"I decided I had to investigate personally", "I arrived and was briefed", "I do not permit" etc.

I find that an extremely arrogant attitude, especially from someone who has only ever won a national Formaula 3000 championship and an F3, both over 20 years ago. I know people who have won and been on podiums (unlike yourself) of Formula One GPs and won International rally championships with much less of an attitude!

And yes, calling someone by his last name is indeed rude. I am very disappointed.

What's your point, Claudius? I am not trying to defend JP and am a little surprised and disappointed that he has not offered a full and immediate refund to those affected (maybe Monday will see a resolution). But I fail to see what JP's racing CV has got to do with this.

And using someone's surname is not rude, I think you'll find it is common journalistic style, as used in most magazines and newspapers.

Richard.

Whats JP's CV got to do with anything?

Went to Donington today and had a great time. £75. For IMO the 2nd best track in the country (after Cadwell)

Claudius can see what your saying but won't help

Technically he was the 1988 World Champion in the normally aspirated class. However, it wasn't the F1 world championship title, but was the Jim Clark trophy.

I knew I could rely on scoobynet for a round of know-it-all posts from people showing off their internet searching capability.

I fail to see what JP's racing CV has got to do with this.
I meant to say that he doesnt, unlike guys who have won much more significant motorsport events and championships, have a reason to display such an arrogance in public. Except that most other people, who, again, have achieved much more, would not talk down to fellow motorsport enthusiasts like that.

Sorry if that wasnt clear.

It IS rude. Journalists say "Blair commented that ..." but not "Blair, do you think... ?" It's rude if you are talking to the person.

I don't know about JP's schooling, but at most private schools (from my era) only sirnames were used, and calling someone Mr ....... would be reserved for when you're p1ssed off with them.

Just a thought, as people seem to be getting carried away on this point.

Josh
