Hi Jeff
Is team 8 me ?
If so I still need to confirm with some others we're ok for this.
Had a SW Chinese last night and this came up so may be another team as well.
Hopefully will know this weekend.
Cheers

Pavlo,
Well Puff & Phil need one more (and they need to be fast as they both are and would give a slow member a kicking after the event ) and your name starts with a P and they want to be Team PPP so I'd say it was a marrige made in heaven
Mark (Giz), I added you into the List as I knew you wouldn't be able to resist
PeteC mentioned he may be up for it also...
Ta,
Matt

I assume that there's an age limit, ie no under 18 karting champions allowed,.....that should sort the noise issues for Hoppy's team
BTW Team The Good, The Bad and The Fugly consists of DTS, Josh L and moi, but obviously not in that order

Sorry FB, Hoppy Jnr turned 18 in October and is a full SIDC member. Prepare to eat dust/mud/grass/bits of tarmac/gallons of water Let's make it a festive one - the local pub is okay.

sounds like I better lose some weight.
I haven't sat in a proper kart for ages, not since last super one in 2000. I certainly wont be slow, but if hoppy jnr is a 10 stone racing snake, I think we should make him carry some ballast!

Hoppy, make that under 19 karting champions then, as I'm pretty sure the rest of us would have no problem with that... and Paul I totally agree about the ballast thing , the only problem is he'd need about 25 stone to slow him down, or, of course, to get on the outside of DTS on any bend..say no more

Paul, if you're hoping to have a go in a real kart, prepare to be disappointed at Rye
Evan, Hoppy Junior, won a couple of club championships at Trent Valley Kart Club but never any Nationals although we scored many poles and won some fantastic races. It was the hardest and best thing I have ever done, over five years or so. I could bore you with many a 'proud father' story but in short, at one time or another he beat anyone who's anyone in junior karting, and Lewis Hamilton was a favourite rival. Unfortunately, Lewis beat Evan more than the other way round, but we are still great friends with the family. (For those that don't know, Lewis Hamilton now has a McLaren contract and will be an F1 champion before long. He will win Formula Renault in 2003, you have my word.)
The money ran out in 1999 when Evan finished third in Yamaha, Champions of the Future series. We never did Super One as I needed the TV coverage to get sponsorship. It was very hard for him to 'retire' at 15 but a good decision in hindsight. He was odd-on to win the Championship in 2000 and how can you retire then? I've seen too many great young drivers and families, ploughing on with spiralling costs and no real hope of ever making it big. And the higher you fly, the harder the fall.
See you at Rye
Richard.

I know what it's like. I did the Formula A championships in 2000, what were we thinking?!
Competitive by the end, but hampered by weight (even at just over 11 stone), and poor choice of chassis for the first half of the season. We also struggled to get enough testing on gripped up tracks, which is what makes it so hard. You can easily flip a FA kart, especially the first corner at PFI and end of the straight at Clay.

Hey, I've won a few playscape 4.5 bhp races actually, so there...
"Hampered by weight even at just over 11 stone."
Oh dear, so I can't legimately expect pole for my team with Josh and myself averaging around 16 1/4 stone on a good day. DTS is in the team just to try to bring our average weight down but even his 7 stone doesn't get us below an average 13 stone.
Otherwise of course we would get pole #cough#
Get the excuses in early. ( copyright: Team The Good, The Bad & the Fugly)

I was also 100cc britsh endurance champion in 94ish. 4 rounds of 6 hour races with 2-3 drivers, 45 minute stints. I also have competed in 125cc Rotax endurance races in preperation for sprint racing, 3hour race, 2 drivers, but that fizzled out because the organisers couldn't get funding for the series.

well Jeff, you said sprint racers are crap at endurance, I disagreed. If you're going to play at baiting Hoppy or I, then please don't be surprised when you get a response.
Not saying I'll be any good in february. I've not raced for 2 years, and the only other time I sat in a kart in all that time was another jolly at Rye House, it was damp, and when it dried the intermediate tyres fell to pieces, my team didn't win (3rd) it was good fun though, and I got the chance to thrash the boss (and I wasn't the only one).
I've already had all the mega serious karting I care for thankyou very much, so I wouldn't mind a bit of fun. I dare say there will be some people taking it very seriously indeed, but I'll pass for now.

Did someone mention banter?
We were going to name our team "The Michelin Man, Billy Bunter and the Fugly" but obviously this doesn't have quite the same ring to it
In my serious race preparation I have dieted myself to a sylph like 12.5 stone, but of course this now means I have to qualify fastest in my team
Cue normal "I was baulked by a slower driver (Jeff Wiltshire )", "my tyres went off", "my engine developed a misfire" type excuses.....

Lol at Dave T-S, slower driver indeed.......
Paul
My team have won a number of endurance championships in both Thunderkarts & 100cc 2-Stroke karts. I'm not saying that you'll not have a chance to be the quickest but endurance racing ( as you know) is about teamwork/consistance/staying out of trouble and not simply a few fast laps. Please don't assume that your the only person to have done serious karting, 'cos your not.
So just chill out and if your the fastest driver on the day, great, if your not then that's fine as well.

Well as your team member Pav I am likely to be the slowest!
I just hope it doesn't rain, it was like an ice rink last time I went with MASSIVE puddles down the main straight!
Phil
14 stone
