Girls, girls, girls! You've just got to know how to modify them! I'm no tuning guru but I've asked lots of questions on this fair site and have tuned accordingly. My MY99 now has good handling, balance and good grip in all weather conditions. I get power oversteer in the wet and lift-off oversteer any other time. It doesn't understeer too badly at all and has good power from 2.5k rpm to 7k rpm - not exactly narrow!
And I find the interior totally liveable! My only complaint would be the very high running costs and the pointless bright button! Oh, and crap build quality.

Ok, Ok, we whinge we whine, but hang on, crap build quality? Have you guys ever owned anything French and contemporary to the Scoob? I would say Imprezas are on a par with Ford and Vauxhalls, which aint THAT bad. There are a lot worse about. Oh, and all of my STis rattled way less than my EVO!!!

Tractor, I had a 10 year old Fiat Uno 45 that had a better put together interior than my WRX. My 106 and the Saxo my brother had put the scoob to shame when you looked at the interiors. Oh, and my mates Clio RSi was much more solid than my coke can metal scoob. European cars (even the French and Italian) are better designed and better put together.
Scoobs are fast from A to B. That's all they're good for really.

Hmm, well I had a Clio 16v before my Scoobs, and I though the build quality was way worse.
Regarding bodywork thinness, well......one word boys , weight!!! Or the lack thereof...

The scooby uses (im most cases) better materials, plastics, etc than the VTS did. But I'd say that the VTS was of a higher quality. The paintwork on the Impreza is laughable and chips and scratches if you so much as look at it the wrong way. Actually, the more I think about it the exterior of the Impreza that lets it down. Everytime I wash it I find something ready to fall off

Havent read all the thread, but id have to agree. Thats why I have a legacy
Though i would disagree about build quality. Mine has 130,000 on it, and there is hardly a squeak or rattle to be heard. IMO, build quality is excellent, as is overall design. Std subaru seats are not the most spectacular, but the sportier bucket type seats, are very comfortable, and last up a lot longer, than most OE seats.
Subarus in general, are also a fairly enjoyable car to work at, for a 4wd turbo car. Have you tried working on some others?????
No matter what car you would have bought, you would modify it, but as a base car to start with the impreza/legacy is IMO a very good starting point.

Oh FFS, have some of you lot got nothing better to do than pick on every comment I make
I'll tell you what!!! My car has NEVER been beaten! Are you ******* happy! I have won EVERY SINGLE race I've EVER had in it and I'll happily take any performance car on if they seem up for it and its safe to do so - so ******* what, judge away and say what you like I'm totally sick of it now.
What has this place come too I can't have a bit of friendly tongue and cheek banter with another netter without someone making out like I think I've got some sort of superscooby!! It's only a mildly modified UK FFS!!!!!!!!!
I suppose I technically got beat tonight because a Corsa went for it and I didn't, but then I could see the people in the middle of the road that he almost ran over which is WHY I didn't go for it.

Saxo Boy, do you not realise how uterly stupid you look at times by talking about your "racing" on the road?
This is why people are taking the ****, because you deserve it. Please save it for the track, if you dont do track days (which again are not races) just dont do it at all please.

Saxo boy,
If you want people to stop going on about fuel surge, then why not accept the possibility that you just screwed up, and admit it.
"Show me a man that has never made a mistake and I will show you a man that has never tried to do anything."

Adam, i think its January 26th or something like that. Its in the northern section.
Absolutely F'ing Fabulous - friday night banter, you cant beat it.
Saxo Boy - i agree with John Felstead whole heartedly on this one
Suppose thats your biggest fault with the impreza, the Fuel Surge
Dave, if SB takes up the challenge, let me know and i will borrow my mates airfield near york

I'll happily admit to making mistakes, I've made plenty! I lifted off in the VTS once, spun off into an empty field and hit the only sign in the field!! £600 of damage!! I once pushed my uncles audi quattro too far in the snow and had her snaking down the road but just managed to get it under controll again....these are mistakes which I've learned from. Especially the lift-off one. That's my whole ******* point!!!! I DID NOT LIFT OFF IN THE IMPREZA!!!!!!!!!! I lost power mid-corner and was unable to correct it at those speeds. Perhaps a more experience driver would have known how to sort it but I couldn't without some power to pull the nose around! My mistake that day was trying to eek out the badly worn rears tires till the fronts were ready to be changed and pushing those tires and the car with low fuel. The car was instantly more predictable and secure when the 4 toyos went on. The bottom line is, like it or lump it, I'm the only one that knows how it felt, what I did/didn't do....nobody else was there so will you just let it drop!!!!!
As for the racing thing The object of racing is to WIN. I do not therefore race.....ever!! If I'm coming off a roundabout on the bypass and happen to have tasty car next to me and a clear road in front then I'll usually charge up to about 90mph before backing off and cruising at 70. If he/she goes too then great, but I'd have done the exact same thing even if I was 100% on my own! Its acceleration from roundabouts and the odd twisty that screws my fuel consumption and if you check all the "what mpg do you get" threads you'll see that I get better mpg than most on Scoobynet so clearly I'm not the only one that'll gun it from a roundabout, etc. To race suggests a hot-head that will risk anything to win. I don't care if the car/bike that I'm alongside pulls away. In fact, I'd prefer it that way as I can keep an eye on them easier if they are in front.
This all started cause some pr1ck had a pop at me for saying my car was undefeated!! It was a bit of fun FFS Yes it so happens that I've never had another car pulling away from mines when I've been foot to the floor but then there aren't that many performance cars and opportunities to acclerate around my way.
Look at D W's stats for crying out loud!!! He has well over 300bhp/lbft! I have an MY99 with 275bhp....I'd need to be a 50% better driver to make up that kind of difference!!!! That's unlikely, its more likely DW is 50% better than me. Is it not clear from this alone I was just having some friendly SN banter....or is that wrong too!!!!!!!!!!!
I really don't know what else to say! So many of you have this image of Saxo Boy = boy racer = ned = god only knows what, and you couldn't be further from the truth! It's just unfortunate that I can't let things lie when you pr1cks have a go at me for nothing!
BTW, I'll happily go play on an airfield in york - provided its free It would be great fun having that much space to play around on, experiment, etc
