Why bother banging on about something that J.P. will not bother the resolve. He may be sorting refunds out, but thats as far as it going to go. ???

Not going to jump into this argument, but MarkO Gossy is referring to the fact that no-one got what they paid for i.e. a full days use of the track. I was only a spectator on the day, so didn't lose out, but there were a few cars out on track when I arrived in the morning (somewhere before 10am), but shortly after the track was closed and no-one got back out till past midday iirc. So essentially people got a track afternoon, which went on till bad light closed the track. The afternoon from what I saw ran smoothly and most people seemed to anjoy themselves.

I am not sticking up for JP, but they did'nt stop for an hours lunch, which they would have done if everything had gone according to plan.

Dave TS

Why did *you* not put your thoughts in an email to Gossy then instead of posting here ?

Oh yeah, you wouldn't be able to have other people read your name-dropping.

What a shame Mr Palmer couldn't manage a rational sensible conversation with the people he threw out of his facility at the time.

And why would Gossy (or I and many others) want to use the excellent facility with the kind of attitude displayed by the owner ?

simes Take a hike to my knowledge u are the only person to complain about my driving if you felt like that u should have stayed away from me. To the rest who have had a winge for 2 pence worth. I was talkin about only getting 3 1/2 hrs on track even tho we all Paid For A Full day@£170 that works out at £42.50 an hour

Gossy, just a thought but you complaints might stand more chance of getting resolved if you actually send them to Palmer motorsport instead of posting on an internet bbs

And if (and I don't know, obviously) you were driving like simes said then you would get black flagged at any other venue to, in my experience.

Dock Jock

Why did *you* not put your thoughts in an email to Gossy then instead of posting here ?
Because whilst it was gossy's post I was responding to specifically, I would say there were a number of other posts on both this and the original thread in the same category that my comments would also apply to - and no doubt more to come as this doesn't appear to have run its course.

Oh yeah, you wouldn't be able to have other people read your name-dropping
I don't need to name drop, or I could do a lot better. I was making the point that it is possible to approach JP and have a rational discussion. In fact, I first emailed him on the subject and he invited me to call him for a chat.
It's not about right or wrong - what has happened has happened. It's about looking to the future, learning from mistakes and going forward.

What a shame Mr Palmer couldn't manage a rational sensible conversation with the people he threw out of his facility at the time.
I hear what you are saying. But whilst I wasn't there, i've heard enough from people that were to realise that it wasn't exactly rational on the part of some of the drivers either. Things are bound to get heated at the time, but you have to go away afterwards and attempt to repair the damage and find a way forward.

And why would Gossy (or I and many others) want to use the excellent facility with the kind of attitude displayed by the owner ?
Fair point. If you don't, that's entirely your prerogative. And exactly my point - I and others *do* want to go back to Bedford in the future, but people slagging JP off on here will just put the final nail in the coffin of those who do want to go back.

It is a fact that it is some of the comments on Scoobynet that led to JP deciding he did not want the SIDC back at Bedford. That means all of the SIDC has probably been tarred with the same brush.

It also goes back to my earlier comments that it is the actions of the minority that spoil it for the majority.

If *anybody* has a gripe with Palmersport about Bedford, fair enough, but there are ways and means of dealing with it and all people slagging JP off on here has achieved is to get the SIDC banned from Bedford, given the SIDC a bad name, given Impreza owners a bad name and given Scoobynet a bad name.

Since I get tarred with the same brush I now feel embarrassed to admit I am a SIDC member or own an Impreza.

Great result, guys

Dave,

The whole debacle (sp?) is as a result of JP's actions and the resulting lack of. And his unfortunately negative & arrogant attitude. It was after all his staff that were doing the drive bys. So to brand us cheats is a bit much.

I think we should vote with our wallets and not go again (even if we could )

It shouldn't be a negative issue to Subaru owners that he decided to throw his toys of his pram and ban the SIDC.

I don't feel embarrassed that due to some reaction to such a cockup of what was an expensive day he got the huff. I think I posted on page one "His Loss" and I still feel the same way.

People standing up to what they think is poor value for money & bad service in the extream has never been a bad thing as far as I'm concerned.

Gossy

Simes wasn't the only one to mention your driving at Bedford. If you remember we had a brief chat on the day.

The truth is that everyone who wanted to had more track time in the afternoon than they could cope with. Towards the end of the day a large number of cars where parked up while very few where still on-track so this arguement is a little null and void. Bedford did try and give us back some of the time that was lost in the morning following the complaints regarding noise by running through lunch time.

I'm not taking sides, as I don't need to, which is why I haven't entered into the actual debate as to whether people might have been hard done by or not, and won't.

It does mean I can look at it impartially though.

Whetever happened on the day, is done. It's history. Unfortunately, the outcome is a bad one for *everyone* There are no winners, only losers

Whatever people may think, Jonathan Palmer is not stupid - for starters he's got his own race track and I haven't - we should perhaps not treat him like he is and I am sure it might be possible for the SIDC to go back to Bedford in the future - at least for those that *want* to.
No doubt the noise issue would also be addressed in a different way too.......

I totally agree (as a *general* comment) with your comment that people standing up to what they think is poor value for money & bad service in the extreme has never been a bad thing - it's something I strongly uphold myself - but this should not pursued in a way that might be to the detriment of people that are either not part of the issue or *do* wish to potentially avail themselves of the same service.

Wow, Birdy makes a sensible point for once!

Is there any point in continuing this thread? How about we all take a time out and go munch a few mince pies to let things cool down for a while?

We could still be debating all this next December but I very much doubt anyting positive would have come from it...

Simes

I was a passenger you left the track and re-joined right in front of the car not looking in control
I was in car with Gossy when he spun and we did not rejoin the track in front of any other cars If these were your thoughts on the day why did you not come up to Gossy and have a word? Because it's easier to do it from behind a computer isn't it?

Paul - a lot of people are saying a lot of things on this thread from behind a screen.

When we were told there was a problem at Bedford, only 2 people asked questions of the guy who gave us the breifing. Yet to the observer you would think a riot had happened at Bedford, when in fact it was nothing like that.

FFS mods, lock this thread.

It only took a couple of hours for any valid points made by those affected by the problems to be swamped by the overwhelming tide of bollox that's been posted on these threads.
