Someone tell me what JP's options were FFS!

We have some very good arguers on this board who will not let this subject lie!

He had 2 options, IMHO he made the right choice. Deal with it move on. If you choose not to return to Bedford fair enough. What more do you want?

Ironic that if the SIDC had only used True Grip and its own forum as a medium for organising its trackdays then Bedford would never have been filled.

Davyboy, I think part of the problem is the exclusion from Bedford of Imprezas now!

Banshi...

We seemed to disagree happily in Spain ... we'll do it again now

Banning SIDC because of comments made on a non related BBS is totally out of line. Agree ?

Blaming people for complaining about things smacks of arrogance. Agree ?

What if someone would be critical on the Evo BBS... would Mr. Palmer ban all Evo readers ?

Scoobynet has nothing to do with SIDC. Mr. Palmer posted here. People reacted. Lots of misunderstanding. Nothing new.

Anyway: I thought from reading the SIDC BBS that Lee & Lisa wanted more time for their family, now it seems to be triggered by the Bedford debacle... not that they need to actually give any reasons, but it makes me wonder what the real story is ?

Mattel,

What exclusion of Imprezas?

There are to be no more SIDC days.

Josh the closing comment seems kind of final.
I am sure you will continue to enjoy your Imprezas elsewhere.
I do hope I am reading more into it than there is.

Davyboy,
As a complete outsider who didn't go and who has read all the threads relating to this, what he could have done was apologise profusely for having to change the noise limits, explain his reasons for doing so in full ON THE DAY as in "Wind direction, no choice, stupid people in town giving the track a hard time / don't want to lose licence so have to humour them etc. - will give full refund or allow you to attend next open day FOC, which ever you would prefer".

This is ALL the people that attended (that I have read) have wanted. These are (almost) all reasonable people. It was purely the apparant arrogant attitude and little or no explanation at the time that has caused the situation to esculate to this.

However, hind-sight is a very exact science and hopefully the organisers will take everything on board to ensure that the aftermath doesn't happen again, because next time JP / Marshalls will do all the above.

Mike R as hit the nail on the head IMO.

Nothing more I would add to his reasoning.

Question

To be honest if JP said sorry would you all roll over and say OK then? No, you would pick more holes in his post, and we would get another 10 pages of threads.

Mark, what do you think it means? I am not suprised that JP has said no more to the SIDC/Impreza's.

Erm, the real reason is that they have a rapidly expanding business, and a recently-expanded family. Not to mention the fact that they've been carrying out this difficult and thankless task for 2-3 years and would like to step down and give somebody else a chance.

The only reason Bedford has impacted their decision is that with all the grief they've had over this (since way before the actual trackday) I understand it's acted as a catalyst for their decision and prompted them step down sooner rather than later.

Don't try and make anything more of it, because there's nothing more to make.

Davey,
There would be absolutely no point in him apologising now, the phrase "bolting the stable door etc" springs to mind. As I said, hindsight and all that...

Hiya Theo

How nice to be remembered by someone, even if for the wrong reason
From what I can recall through a beery haze, we were "debating" rather loudly, achievements of Belgium/Belgians and I thought we agreed!

After all it's impossible to argue over something that doesn't exist

Here we agree to agree again

Banning SIDC because of comments made on a non related BBS is totally out of line. Agree ? YES

Blaming people for complaining about things smacks of arrogance. Agree ? YES

What if someone would be critical on the Evo BBS... would Mr. Palmer ban all Evo readers.

The defence would submit that is pure speculation, and refrains to coment

But if hacked off with a client, or a vocal group of them, you may exercise you right to take your bat and ball home.

I wouldn't wish to comment on anyones personal life m8, but any ideas I had of becoming more actively involved with SIDC disappeared when I saw the abuse thrown at organisers/committee members.

Nice idea to bring the Black Beast to Bedford

But they are supposed to move at reasonable pace for the drive by test

Apparently not. I'm told by EvilBevel that under EU law it would be illegal for JP to withdraw his circuit from Imprezas if he decided they weren't commercially acceptable.

Well of course he is talking out of his sweet little Belgian rear again

The management reserves the right, Invitation to Treat, etc.

But I wouldn't to tell him that, especially when he's hungry

Mark, I'm in grave danger of agreeing with some of the points you raised. It's very, very disconcerting

That is a correct paraphrasing of what I said in another thread Mark. And no matter how much water there is around yer wee island, let's just wait for the first female to challenge your golf club (that somehow seems to be relevant ????). However, I was now talking to someone I actually met. AND I was talking about a commercial venture. Or is BA not commercial in any way ?

Let him try to refuse me as a customer... my proverbial lawyer would have a ****ing ball. Not that this is what the discussion is about, mind. It was about people totally being confused, and it's sad that a guy with an 80ties flick & a Ford has to make the most sense of us all

Banshi

No, we didn't disagree the whole time. And maybe we don't even disagree this time ? But I object to the way genuine people are tainted with the same brush as some (illusionary, that thread was pretty decent for a scoobynet-thread) muppets.

Yes, I can imagine how unthankful it must be to be an SIDC committee member. But please, that has nothing to do with the Bedford incident, nor with the total arrogant private school "you are bad boys" attitude of Mr. Palmer.

It's already happened. And guess what the result was!

There are attempts to bring in a new law to counter them, but nothing so far. But surely if EU law made them illegal, all that wouldn't be necessary?

Without wishing to open old wounds, what has happened?

Has SIDC been "banned" from Bedford categorically?

Erm, siwrx, by 'this dickwad', do you mean Lee - SIDC IT officer, and highly respected member of this board, the SIDC, and the Impreza community in general?

What exactly do you have to add to the discussion here? Unless it's anything interesting, why don't you just **** ***? It's uninformed and mouthy idiots like you who are directly responsible for precisely what happened with Bedford.
