I could be horribly wrong - ebay would be a good bet to find out...
Just unpacked and checked the Ixus V3 works. Don't ever pick one up, you'll have to buy one. Menu system seems intuitive, so hopefully my wife'll find this one simple to deal with. Turn it on, push the button, picture taken![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
It really is a little object of desire.
So much for "we're not spending much this Christmas"
!

rik if you bother to read the text you will see the camera compresses the pictures, hence you can fit up to 40 pics on one floppy. its also great as if your somewere else ya can just whack the discs into a mates comp and they work, were as with a normal pc link camera the software has to be installed.
thanx for slaggin my camera off anyway, i think its wicked, i only want to replace it as i want a smaller more flashy lookin one like the ixus

Apples, I think I was horribly wrong - sorry!
An FD71 went on ebay for 200 quid last week.
Your exact camera went for about the same in this auction.
Even the old versions are making over 100 quid.
So things aren't so gloomy
. Chuck it on ebay and see if you get some nibbles, or if you're feeling dead generous give it to your school. Or the one where my wife works ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Sorry if I depressed you before, this should have cheered u up tho![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Just to throw a spanner in the works, there's a known compatability issue between Crucial CF cards and the Ixus, and there's rumblings about the G3 too. See the DPreview review of the Ixus V3 and the Canon forums...

well from what ive read and been told it seems the ixus 3 is the most highly rated @ the £300 bracket, well £314 is cheapest ive seen, im very tempted now to go to town and buy it but i may wait a couple weeks just to have a damn good look around and get the best possible deal, ideally spose need a memory card thingy as it only comes with a shat 6mb. so may look for a combination deal or somin

if youre not worried about top end resolution get a sony DSC P2
cybershot Ive just bought one for 250 quid and its un ******* believable for the price
I wasnt to sure about the little memory stick at first but when i realised you could just plug into a usb sockets and have an instant portable hard drive with no drivers to install I was hooked
at 2 mega pixels its not high end stuff but ive got a decent slr for that sort of thing and the quality is easily as good as a top compact.
with a 128 meg stick you can record an hour and a half of mpeg movies as well

So am I mate, but I've spent my money now ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Someone else has recommended the Konica KD310, which is around 300 quid, 3MP, 3x zoom, metal body. Steve's Digicams has reviewed the 4MP version and likes it.
The Ixus still gets my vote.

Just bought myself an Ixus v3. Didnt want to chance waiting for an online order so went down town. Dixons, Jessops (2 branches), John Lewis and Boots did not have any in stock. All said the v3 was selling like hotcakes. One local camera shop had one left but at £399.99. Luckily PC World had one for £349.99. Ive got the Crucial 128mb CF Card I bought the other day - it takes about 77pics in top res so well needed.
First impressions:
1. Looks great although easy to put greasy fingerprints all over the nice shiny metal.
2. Solid build. Feels light and sturdy at the same time.
3. Buttons are easy to use and intuitive.
4. Very easy to navigate menus without reading the manual.
5. Digital zoom aint too hot but havent done much with it yet.
6. Lack of a case with a £350 camera is a bit annoying. Would reccomend buying the Canon soft case if u buy one.
Will post some photos once Ive been out in daylight.

Transferring pics straight from camera is a piece of ****. Install canon software, hook camera up on USB and click save - job done. Each top res pic takes about 2 secs.

Fuji A303 - early Christmas pressie from the GF. She also bought a 64 mB card
3.2 mpx, USB so a monkey can use it. I liked the Canon, but it was metal and I tend to use the camera when skiing - was worried that the cold would affect it too much (something to bear in mind).

Well as you know Ive had it less than 24hrs so its a bit early to say either way. But so far no probs at all. Crucial memory is normally **** hot for PC's hence why I went with it for CF. Will let you know if I get any problems.

Ok - update on the Crucial CF/Canon conflicts. Have had the card since weds. Went bowling on Thurs and 3 pictures came up as corrupted data even though the review pic looks fine. Funny thing is that they were all of the same thing (the bowling screen for the scores i.e where u type ur names in etc) and taken at different times. Perhaps there was some interference from the screen as I find it hard to believe that it could be down to anything else.
Will let u know if I find any more problems with corrupted data.

well after a long chat with mate, for me 2million pixels is fine, it only causes a problem if a wanted to print large photos, but a4 size etc is fine, so i thought whats the bloomin point, its exactly the same to look at and use, quality is excellent, i am extremely impressed with my new camera, i recomend it to anyone, the pics i have taken i zoomed in on and the quality of pics is very impressive, without a doubt the best around for
