Would it help to list the 26 things that can totally destroy the aircraft on take off?
If not how about the further 17 on landing
Seriously though, I live under the heathrow takeoff flightpath and there is an aircraft hurling itself skyward every 45 seconds. I've lives there for close on 20 years and nothing with wings has landed on my gaff yet....
Chill out, the people up the front know what they're doing.
astraboy.

Unfortunately those of us living near Stansted don't have quite the same experience as you, astraboy (Korean Airlines 747 came down in Hatfield Forest a few years ago)

About 4 hours on a Friday, and that includes a 15-20 minute window at City to allow for delays, and about 15 minutes to pick up the car at Edinburgh. Not bad really - there were a few occasions when it took me longer than that to get home to Kent when we lived down here!

The pic was taken on Monday with a Blink! camera (you know, the tiny £40 jobs). It was a fantastic clear day, and I got great views the whole way down - including a stunning aerial view of Silverstone.

Good tip for flying anywhere these days...

Try and take your clothes in a holdall that can go as cabin luggage.

I got so fed up with it taking 1:45 to fly 600 miles to Stansted then another 45 minutes for my luggage to travel the 100m from the plane to the carousel.

Maybe its just Stansted.

How does it go?

The odds of getting on a plane with a bomb on it are something like 1000000:1 and the odds of getting on a plane with 2 bombs on it are something like 1000000000:1 so........get yourself a bomb!

what can i take before going on a plane, i go to pieces, to me its like russian roulette, im going away next week and im in bits already
best thing to take is a packet of ****. Just after take-off, light up a cigarette and they'll land the plane again for you.

Only downside is, they might land the plane in Wales

Flying from Edinburgh to city it takes 'em about 2 minutes to get the bags off. Mind you, there's only about 30 seats on the plane, and at least half of them usually only have hand-luggage.
