Why should being an athiest lead you to hate "Christmas". You can marvel at the willingness of the masses to believe but dont hate them for it

I dont believe in the ECU reset - but I dont hate people for doing it

richard, the mods are clearly grabing xmas by the scruff of the neck! shooting the festive lights...nice touch. all we need now is diabalo to turn up with his mad dog to chew on rudolf and we have on very own Santas Little Helpers Team.

I said I hate Christmas, not the people who believe in it. As far as I'm concerned, it can be materialistically beneficial if they believe in Christmas but I don't, as they feel obliged to give me presents, but I don't have any requirement to reciprocate.

I'm not religious either & I don't hate chrimbo, I just see it for what it is. A chance to give & recieve pressies (as long as mine are cool), meet up with family & friends to catch up and eat and drink lots. This, I suspect, is what most people see it as. I don't think many these days see it as celebration of the birth of Brian anymore.

Want me to resurrect the thread again? You said it was a park.

But the most important word here is 'near' - it wasn't on your land, so hence you're a miserable fun-spoiling git, rather than somebody protecting his property.

"I said I hate Christmas"

you've blown it now- that is a lazy thing to say and so clearly stinks of "i will just say something to be different"

while you are know for saying things just to be different i dont think you need to signpost your thoughts so slap dash

I don't like Christmas. Okay, it's not the worst day of the year, but I hate the run-up to it, the cheap sh*t that's in the shops, the way everything's overpriced, the fact that you can't get a table in a decent restaurant and if you do they have a restricted 'festive' menu. The TV is crap and repetitive, the music played in public stinks, and it's generally too commercial and too stressful. I also don't like feeling under pressure to see family which I wouldn't normally even speak to, and having to buy presents for people out of duty. And of course the feeling that if I don't send Xmas cards to all the people at my work I'll feel like a social outcast, but if I do write them I'll get suicidal halfway through at the futility of it all.

I'm not just trying to be different - I really don't like the whole Christmas season very much, except perhaps for about 4 hours on Christmas day when I'm sat with a stuffed belly feeling sleepy.

Hogmanay is much more my kind of thing.

Dont they look so bloody common........ Imagine living next door to them!!
Yep like the two common 20k+ Beamers - the common two extra bedrooms - the biggest common garden etc etc yawn yawn.

I have nothing to prove. I like cars were my neighbour likes skiing - he goes skiing twice a year and I buy nice cars. I bought a house with a big garden because I like gardening. Not because I thought - At least I'll have a bigger garden the him/her/it/them. He used to put up one set of lights. I now put up approx 20. So does he. The rest of the neighbours judge it on the basis of
1. Which one do the kids like most?
2. Which is most tasteless?

The loser buys the winner a crate of beer.

It is called FUN - ya snobby git - You can always tell someone who has just scraped out of working class. Delusions of grandeur I call it.

If people want to decorate their house in lights for the kids at christmas then what the f*** is wrong with that??

When I have kids I'll do it if they want it

Jen - In Croxley the Red House pub has and inflatable penguin on it and a house near the Shell and Texco petrol stations and fire station has an inflatable Santa.

I was thinking of getting one and then going and seeing the family! Leavit for the neighbours to glower over....

See I am evil!
