I bought my scoob simply because the garage who had it up for sale had no problem in taking cash.......
Some do you see then you need to explain where you got it from.

It's all the above mentioned reasons, everyone here who enjoys it gets a buzz from it somehow. It's tricky to put reasons in order, but the burble, power, looks (dbm my00s+gold allies - perfect for me), that power bulge reminding you and everyone who sits in it what it can do, amazing traction, and the odd admiring glance, relative affordability, how easy it is to drive fast (and to feel what's happening/adjust/correct it), the community feel/friends here on SN, practicality (otherwise an Elise mighta had a lookin), image/respect (depends who you're asking though, only a minor point for me - I love it anyway), and being able to look at it on my drive and feel good and know it's always there for me, and (touch wood) pretty reliable.

Have I covered it all?

Katana's:
8. Women loves it.

9. Women loves it.
Well, I've yet to pull because of it, in fact I tend not to mention it anywhere near the start of a conversion with a freshly-met lady but leave it as a (hopefully) nice surprise or something to bring up later on if cars are mentioned/the conversation is dragging and I want to try and revive it.

awwww, salsa, such nice words!

my reasons:

looks (belive it or not)
relative rarity (at the time - owned 4 years next April)
all round performance capabilities
it song
Colin Mcrae's antics

and subsequently... track days and the Scooby community!

THE RUMBLE!!!

Amazingly, just had this conversation with a few other fellow car enthusiasts over the weekend.

All agreed that scoob sounds the best, enjoyed everytime listening to my own or another passing scoob.

Mind you: our al-ky group has 2evos, 7scoobs, i holden, a couple of rx7s so it's not too biased.

What else do you progress to after an Audi Quattro Turbo (of 80's era).

Oh and the exhaust note.... <sigh> wish I hadn't sold it now. Almost a year ago she departed with a new loving caring owner

If only I could persue her to come home again....

I'll keep taking my pills eh ?

Scoobydoo had a 97 turbo For 5 Yrs did 70k only problem with car was it had 2 new clutches under warranty with in 6k. STD WRX nice car but to spec up was Going to cost 5k silly money saw STi 7 thought for the money it was a bargain.First got the STi and got to admit missed classic but got used to it and never looked back, I think the so called bug eye is a far far better car than classic and the classic car was the best at that time but things move on.

Cheers Mick

The fact the when we went on the test drive, my wife drove it first, and after accelerating away from the layby she said "we have got to have this car!"
And the noise, the fact that 3+years ago they were quite rare, the absurd traction, the seats, 5 door load-lugging capability, the amazing value for money (5.3s 0-60 for £20k ) etc, etc

I just love my "limited edition" Bug eye. I bought it for the awesome sound, the power, the fact it will always be a better car than I am driver and again that flat four sound... how many here have said "there goes a rex" without even needing to see it??

Cool

I think it was that I didn't have to buy my first two I got them as company cars . For my third one I am going to have to part with my own cash but well worth the cash for the fun.

The wife likes to drive it as well!
