Top Gear tonight...

I don't know what it's like dynamically, it just looks all wrong. It didn't help that is was parked next to a rather nice TVR (which itself has a slightly dodgy backside).
Edited to say that those pictures are quite flattering.

AliWrx - I thought I mentioned sour grapes in my first post.
Being a proud Impreza owner I would have liked to see an Impreza come out on top, if it had to be a 7 then so be it.
"so you wouldn't complain if they put the STI 7 up against the top of the range porsche? Say a 911 Turbo 4?" - No, I would be very happy
Mike

OMG!!!! A nissan that people actually notice.
The 350Z is supposed to be a serious piece of kit.
3.5L V6 VVT
287 hp
274 lb-ft
6 spd manual box
lightweight aluminium suspension and engine.
Carbon-fiber composite driveshaft.
ultra low drag co-efficient
Brembo brakes w/electronic brake distribution
undercarriage aerodynamics
vehicle dynamics control (???)
53:47 weight distribution
One very sexy fast car for 22k ....
I think the Audi TT has met it's match

Ha Ha Ha, why would you be happy mike? it would get wasted by a turbo 4!
and why would you think a STi7 would do so much better against the focus?
it was about 4 secxonds quicker than the evenly priced WRX, Do you think a extra 45/50 bhp would make up 4 seconds a lap??
it would make the 7 look even poorer VFM!

So the Skyline and Pulsar GTIR's are myths then?
Know what you mean though. Does look sweet.
But that MG SV exhaust note is to die for. Will be interesting to see how it fairs against the 60K opposition like Porsche's and TVR's. Am looking forward to seeing it on the track.
I must admit that R32 Golf did look very nice. Would actually prefer that over the S3 I think. How well did the CTR fair against the Focus RS etc. I would have thought it would be an even match if not faster on track?
Simon.

Oh, and the nissan, I like it - but just to be annoying - looks like a hairdressers car to me

P1,
You just made my point for me.
The 350Z is a rear wheel drive sports car. You neglected to mention any of it's predecessors. The 240Z, the 200SX and the 300ZX. All great cars but forgotten about because of E-types, Cossies and Supras. Even the Sunny GTiR didn't get noticed until after they stopped making it.

Does ANYONE know what the tune is they were playing during the Landcruiser bit - they played it on the grannys doing handbrakes before as well.
Strange tune with a cool synth/whistling sound in it - may be FSOL???
PS Think the Nissan looks like a Capri/Fairlady hybrid

hi,
just came in last night to see the closing shot of a focus / seat leon / something else test.
What did they say about the Leon Cupra - as g/f is thinking of getting one.
cheers

Nowt really. Was just saying that the Golf R32 had some fierce competition in the form of the Focus RS, Civic Type R, Leon Cupra and Impreza WRX. The R32 looks the best IMHO by a long way. Admittedly its a lot more expensive though. But still cheaper than an S3.

"Ha Ha Ha, why would you be happy mike? it would get wasted by a turbo 4!" Of course it would, I never said it wouldn't, doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to see it.

We don't actually know do we. Anyone whose owned a WRX and an STi7 may be in a position to enlighten us. I've owned three Imprezas over the last 5 years and obviously the STi7 is much faster than the 2 UK cars I owned. I'm sure you know that lap times aren't solely dependent on power. There are other factors which should be taken into account which are too obvious to mention here.

I thought that the R32 just looked like a normal mark 4 golf with side skirts and bigger wheels.... which they said on the show..
If it wasnt for depreciation i wouldnt mine one of these: said to be the most powerful production hot hatch to date..
