Is it me or am I the only one that uses two spaces to park my Scooby ???

2 spots for me & proud of it. It still amazes me how someone still parks next to you when the rest of the car park is empty. Why is that people in super market car parks are incapble of putting there trolleys in the trolley bay. Why is it that parents do not train kids how to open their doors without hitting the next car.

Always ready to add a dimension of sense to an argument.....
Terminate the ******* that damage cars!!! Thats wot I say!!
That bitch that scraped the E-reg Merc needs hanging, what an example to set her son who will end being another toerag in society.
Don't park near trolley parks or basically any other cars.
If I had my way I'd erect a bloody electric cage round my car and electricute them

I use two spaces right at the back of the car park or end up going late in the evening when the shops are quiet.
If I go during the day, and it is a pay car park, I buy two tickets for the car (one for each side of the car ).
Would like to see them fine me for doing that as I am after all maintaining the council/owners revenue stream, which is the whole point of cramming so many spaces into a car park in the first place.

If you take up 2 spaces you're an arrogant selfish swine. Deserve the dings, you shouldn't have bought a tin foil car.
If you shop at Asda like you all seem to then you are clearly very common too and you should know that people with no class don't care about others' property. Try Waitrose if you can afford it, the standard of driving, parking and class of shopper is a cut above.
It is always jerks in "lifestyle" motors (Scoobies, TTs, SLK's Boxters etc.) who park over 2 spaces and in the disable bays when they are able bodied. Who the fack do think you are? It doesn't look big or clever or impress anyone.
I bet you're all getting Zymol and mudflaps for Christmas from your wives.

I wouldn't condone (spelling?) using two spaces but I can sympathsise.. I tend to park in a space as far away from the front door of any shop/supermarket as possible OR next to nice looking, ding-free cars (other Scoobies / EVOs etc. if I can), the other alternative is to minimise the risk by getting an end of row space and park as far away from the next car as possible.. I am sure you all know and practise this already, but thats by 2 pence
<RANT START> Yes, lets string up the annoying tw@s that damage cars and don't give a toss, and I am sure most of you guys work damn hard to look after and keep it on the road just like I have to! <RANT OVER>
Cheers

I think anyone who purposely parks across 2 spaces is being a complete tw*t
Why should I have to drive around searching for a space when some **** thinks he's more important than me and deserves 2 spaces?
If you're that bothered about dents then drive another f***king car or get used to it!!!!
I never park across 2 bays and yet in the 2 years I've owned my scobb there's no dents or scratches.
Has it ever crossed your mind that when some scally sees that you've used 2 spaces he'll probably just scratch your car to **** you off!!!!
I'm not being nasty but when you go to the Trafford Centre in Manchester to do Christmas shopping and the car park is full (and it's a BIG car park) and it can take you upto 30 minutes to find a space and then you find some tw*t has parked across 2 bays cause he thinks he's more important and his car is to special to just use 1 bay
I say f**k off

Just follow these simple rules:
* don't park next to a beaten up old motor (whatever make);
* Always aim to park at least one side next to a wall/hedge/something other than a car;
* never park next to someone with a baby seat in their car - not that they're disrespectful etc, they just need more room and the chances of your car getting dinged are alot higher!;
* always park as far away from the entrance as possible - people are lazy;
* never park near a trolley park;
* never park on the edge of a corner (lots of people can't turn corners)....
....mm, that should leave you about two spaces
Alternatively, you could drive and enjoy your car
Btw, I follow all these rules and in the 4 years of the car's life there's been *one* ding - this was from the previous owner However, I've recently noticed 3 scratch marks on the roof - it looks like somethings been dragged along the top of the car...am I pissed off? Yes. Am I loosing sleep about it? No. I brought the car to drive and occasionally I have to park it - that's life
Oh - and (suprisingly) there's government guidlines about the size of parking spaces - not a choice your local council makes...I'd be suprised if the car parks you usually use are owned by the Council anyway, most are privatly owned or sub-contracted out...oh, and Katana - you don't pay my wages, so shut it or I'll sett my camel spider on yer!

I even got a ticket at work as I park in the middle of 2 spaces, and warned me that continued use will result in action being taken. The fact that there is about 12 empty spaces and I park the furthest away didn't seem to matter.

I think it depends when and where you use 2 bays to park...
Saturday afternoon at a busy out out town shopping centre - just asking for trouble (minis that still think there is enough space,deliberate scratches etc) if you use 2 bays
Monday night down your local Asda or Tesco, parking well away from the entrance - nothing wrong in that. hell, use 3!!
So many people just don't give a toss anymore, best thing to do is keep well away from busy car parks and walk a little bit further.
I have driven round car parks and out again as I couldn't find a sensible space where I was happy to leave my Scoob, my perogative, much to the confusion of the g/f. But then again its my own hard earnt cash that bought the car and why shouldn't I protect it as well as possible while I'm away from it.
Just my 2 pence.

When in multi storey pay to park places, I generally look for as large a space between cars as possible, or an end space.
When at supermarket car parks I park well away from the door of the shop where there are plenty spaces and usually no-one parks next to me as they all want to be right at the door.
But, my view is, it's just a car, if it get a ding or scratch it will **** me off a little but it's not the end of the world for christ's sake - taking up two places is selfish, just as selfish as the **** who cannot take care when getting in/out of his/her car.
Just my opinion !!

*****- People who take up two spaces, especially when you consider how hard it can be to find a parking space sometimes.
If the car is so precious keep it in the garage,parked on the drive, whatever...And walk.

I will either park in two spaces or in a mother and child space.
(I don't see why they are entitled to a larger space)
Fed up with my car being damaged and frankly I'm amazed at the attitude of those of you who aren't bothered by it.
I also think you need to understand that I (and I bet all everyone else on this thread) parks in two spaces well away from the entrance where there are hundreds of spare spaces, so it's hardly causing anyone a problem is it.

Amateurs, I take up four parking spaces by parking between two spaces and having the front of the car in one group and the back of the car in another. Just aim to park the car directly over the cross

Right, let's start with a simple one. Do you have kids?

Is it worth cutting yer leg off to get a Disabled space?
or
Take a pot of paint out with you and paint yer own space as big as you like and mark it reserved "scooby owner shopping"
or
fit 18" wide wing Mirrors, perhaps it could be a scooby shop best seller.

PS: Kids don't have the same sense of responsibility as the rest of us (although as parents we do try to drill it into them). By taking a 'parent and child' parking space all you're doing is making it more likely that the parent and child will have to park in a normal space, and will end up dinking somebody else's car. Talk about "I'm all right Jack"

EB, we've only just begun mate!!!
carl - totally agree with you. Except . Although i wouldn't say my Scoob is the nicest looking car on the planet, i still enjoy looking at it. If i had an Aston Vanquish, i'd rather sit on my driveway and stare at that than any picture on my wall.
Accordingly, my Scoob is polished to an insane level, which makes me appreciate the car more. But i agree that this shouldn't give licence to Scoob (or any marque) owners believing they have the right to more than one car park space. As Clare's guidelines demonstrated, it IS possible to avoid problems in 99.9% of instances.
But i'm still waiting for BT52b to confound me with his wisdom about why parent/child spaces do not need to be bigger. Eejit.

What do you think the family spaces are for??
They're for mothers who have to go shopping with kids
If I was a woman and I saw you parking there I'd give my keys to my kids and tell 'em the bigger the scratch the bigger the burger they get!!!!!!!!!!!

I doesn't matter what the car you drive is, the point comes down to how little respect people can be towards other peoples property.
You could drive a Ferrari or a Mondeo, but the fact you have worked hard to buy a car you want can really p1ss you off when someone dinks it.

I love these debates - makes me lol :-)
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but using more than one space is only a problem if you're taking up a space someone else actually wants. If you're not hurting anyone then what's the big deal ? If you're depriving someone else of a space then you're an inconsiderate muppet.
Merry Christmas to everyone on SN !

On the subject of mother and child parking spaces- (I have no children btw) I can understand why they are there and personally never use them. I can also see how difficult it must be for people who have children with them to do the everyday things I take for granted. However....................
what does nark me off are the same people- (usually they drive stupidly large SUV's- BADLY) who decide that because they have children it gives them the right to park on the pavement and all over the road at school finishing time. There seems to be the attitude that because of a lifestyle choice that they made (ie to have kids) that it gives them "special rights" and allows them to do practically whatever they want- if you make a reasoned comment to them the only response is usually a screamed "I've got kids - you dont know what its like" with a few expletives thrown in for good measure. I'm sorry but having kids doesnt give you the right to break the law, be rude or otherwise act like some kind of antisocial lout.
In the unlikely event that any of these idiots are reading this: Did you ever stop to think that your behaviour creates danger for the children who actually walk to school and have to cross roads where other road users cant see them and they cant see the road because of your disgusting selfish attitude.
JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE KIDS DOESNT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO ACT LIKE A TOSSER!

You have to feel gutted though when notice a dink in a panel. It doesn't matter if you can't see it when your driving or not looking at the car, if it was me, I'd always know it was there.
I don't spend £25k on a new car, just for someone to open their door into it.

Yeah its alright until you come to trade and they knock loads of ya trade in price and say its only in 'Good' condition and not A1.
I agree with the children don'yt have the same responsibility but its up to the parents to make sure they control them in and out of cars like they do (in some cases) when crossing the road.
I'm still going to use two spaces and I do take care not to damage fellow motorists cars, so they should respect mine.

FFS I haven't read the whole thread but I think its n00bish to park in two spaces.
Ooo was going to rant on but I can't be bothered cos its Christmas eve so only the above comment will be said
Most Scooby drivers think that they are above the 'mass produced' car drivers when in reality they aren’t!
