High Protein Diets....do they really work?
#31
just to clarify- while on a low carb diet i did no exercise, none at all. mainly as i couldnt be arsed! but also because i was worn out all the time, i dont mean worn out on deaths door..just felt like i could always do with a couple extra hours sleep (small price to pay to see the FAT (i used good spec % tester) drop off)
i have no idea i would have done if i used the diet and trained.

Right, last post from me on this subject.
You see stuff about "X weighs more than Y" purely as a statistic, and an ego-trip for those involved. Although, it is true to say, for two bodybuilders in the same shape, the bigger guy almost always wins, especially in Bigger Is Better America. Although aesthetics should/can play a part. Ask Frank Zane.
You're right about the protein thing, apologies - i skipped over your comment about whey protein. In fact, imo, this is a more valuable supplement than any mineral/vitamin combination if you're trying to gain weight and strength, assuming you're not following some other "fad of the day" diet. I never took any additional minerals and vitamins, and it didn't hold me back, as far as i know.
Yep, tanning and oil are purely to enhance the visual impact.
STi go fast has demonstrated perfectly what a high protein, low carb diet can do. Make you feel washed out, and get you a nice reading on the bodyfat % tester once all the water has gone from your muscles. If that's your short term goal, go for it.

Happy New Year Terry and everybody else.
I am interested in why you say low carb hi protein diet makes you loes water and not fat. There's probably an explanation for that, I'd guees? I'd love to hear it, please.
Also, if you cannot lose fat but only water, then how can you lose fat?

"Make you feel washed out, and get you a nice reading on the bodyfat % tester once all the water has gone from your muscles."
errr...i never said that. it made me feel tired but no big deal, i was able to carry on with normal activites.
as for body fat...i have a "little" experience in this area, i know the difference etween fat and water water loss, if you'd like it in laymans terms the rolls of fat from around my gut disappeared....thats not muscluar fluid loss its FAT loss, i lost about 3 stone on the diet, i did not lose 3 stone of fluids i can assure you!
and as for health...my diet was FAR healthier than when i did heavy weights, dropping the carbs does not prevent you from eating good food..to expand....the offical atkins low carb diet says NO CARBS (almost) and ANYTHING ELSE (almost) so the diet gets a rep for being high fat, etc BUT it doesnt have to be, i limited my carbs a lot but never cut them completley, i just made sure that if i had meat, veg and carbs on the plate the veg was largest, then the meat then the carbs- as opposed to covering the plate in pasta, rice, spuds first. my veg intake went through the roof and i felt VERY good digestivley...i was never hungry, never had indegestion, in short my "system" was lovin it. i avoided high fat foods but didnt go mad, if i want some fatty suace i had it.
