Live in Reading (sh1te hole...london wannabe...hateful hateful place...never come here unless you are a drunken w@nker or a fat ugly stupid drunken sl@g...hate hate HATE Reading) have lived two years out on Salisbury plain (lovely place...but don't go in a squaddie bar or you might not leave with all your teeth) and Work in "the city". If you think insurance and banking are off elsewhere then you are really way out of touch. London = Prestige. Banking and IT jobs...well banking is on the uptake...and IT jobs are completely unrelated due to "industry problems" more than anything else: IT has become a normal industry rather than the madhouse it was a few years ago.

London is scary as hell, and fantastic. It has an amazing buzz, Most of the people in london won't talk to you because they are worried they don't speak the same language as you. Try going to SpitalFields on a Saturday night.....it's like being in spain (but colder) very bohemian atmosphere, Al fresco cafes....shops open at 10:00pm....rows of curry houses on top of each other...warehouses.....appartments with balconies...and lots and lots of very friendly people having a nice time.

You'll pay a premium for a pint, but it's usually worth it.
Been to Glasgow. Every second I was there felt like my last. Never again. Ever. If Londoners are imapssive then Glasweigans are positively agressive!!

York is lovely.
Southampton is...well..busy? And seems very very drunk, usually.

Parking is expensive.£4 per hour on the meters.£18 for 6 hours in Selfridges car park, cheper than NCP which is £24 for 6 hours in central London.
One thing in the Selfridges car park, you have to leave your keys in the car, although there is a permanent attendant on each floor.

If your coming to scotland you should all visit Dundee....it's the best city in scotland by miles

Disclaimer: I'm just joking! I lived in Scumdee (dundee) for 4 years and enjoyed it. Furthermore, the city improved no end in this time and continues to do so through good and strategic planning

Kenny

'Scumdee' or 'Dungdee' as it's also known, is so true you wouldn't believe it.

They can throw as much money at it as they like, they'll never change the people who, are with very few exceptions, gadgies of the highest order.

I've visited the city on several occasions through work, and have never relished the prospect. I simply can't get to grips with the Underground, for a start!

However, my only real gripe with London is the fact that everyone else in this country loses out due to 99% of government spending seeming to remain there for no good reason.

The Dome...Wembley...(spit)...Need I say more?

Planky

How very very sad

Opinions of London were asked for and given you seem to be just a bit defensive on this one I understand why as you were born and bred there, but even I see plenty faults in where I was brought up.

Your next step is to attack Edinburgh

Quite right too mate. My profile may say I'm from Edinburgh but fortunately I'm not. I work in Edinburgh (unfortunately) and don't have a PC at home (hence profile says Edinburgh) but stay well out in sticks , hence the scoob for commuting

Now, what was I saying about Londoners being unfriendly?

Zoog,
Feel free to declare independence, you can then buy all the things the South East needs (like sandbags, lol ) instead of stealing them from the North
Subsidise US..!! Yeah, right, the rest of the country subsidised the Dome....bargan at only 1 billion...!

I read somewhere a while back that the area within the M25 is the most affluent area anywhere in Europe.
That'll be the Sun that you read that in then?

Take it there's a lot of oil produced in that area then

PS Before I get flamed I ain't 100% sure of the facts... just having some fun

Hi

I'm a northern living in Hertfordshire, and yes i find it very expensive here and not as friendly.
Also people have told me i'm frienly and should never change.
But i feel safer here and it's cleener, and more jobs.
