Telboy, totally agree about squats.

100% of the good quality bodybuilders I've seen personally (not many) do heavy, free weight squats, in good form.

I really cannot understand why people, *especially* beginners, don't do them. Well I do understand..it's cos they're tough. I also have a lover/hate relationshiup with deadlifts , I dread them, but my head goes when doing them lol !!

Si, 200kg squats aren't that uncommon, I've done that a few years ago...doing 180kgs at present @ bodyweight of 15 stone which is ok I think. Still, there's always someone stronger and better built than yourself.

Try Myoplex by EAS, for taste, it's nice. Also you should use creatine 10-15 mins before a workout and drink lots of water during your workout, as creatine makes your muscles retain water, making them bigger and able to lift more weight, but if you don't drinks loads of water during your workout, then the water won't be there to be retained. Been in the Gym 3 times a week for 4 years and this works. I don't use creatine anymore though.

Guys I totally agree that Creatine is the ultimate supplement - I started using it 5 years ago as part of a training regime for rugby. Now I pretty much use it just for general training, really allowing me to increase the intensity, etc.

One thing I have been wondering for a while though and can't seem to find any information on - is it safe to take creatine for such an extended period? About a year ago I had myself convinced it was the cause of heart-cramps I was getting, but now am not so sure ....

any responses helpful
cheers

I found this website http://www.absolute-creatine.com/9.htm

seems to be the best and most unbiased one about creatine I.E its not trying to flog it. Only problem is it has to many big words.

Si your profile says NE are you living in the north east ???

I go to Fitness First In Heaton/Long Benton. Its a bit Posh but there are loads of nice birds and the free weights part isn't to bad either

Yeah mate all over the North East ranging from York to Newcastle.

I was told not to stop on creatine that long, 1 tub on, then 6 weeks off. I usually drink red kick or lucazade(sp) during work out.

super_si --> why were you told 'not to stop on creatine too long' ? Were there any specific side effects?

thanks

Cheers mate, im now doing 1000meter row, then 5minute bike warm down.

its not the creatine its the disgusting protein. But im using the blender and pre made milk shake to mix it, spot on now.

My main issues finding meal ideas im sick of the same stuff.

Also good luck mate

Unfortunately Super_si there's not a lot you can do with the diet..!! I mainly have boiled rice, chicken and veg, with a little bit of spice like chilly sauce..!! this may vary with tuna, pasta, jacket pots, steak... My rule is to keep of fatty food.. the occassional curry, like boiled rice and chicken tikka does hurt..

When I start getting ready for competitions, then it gets very bland, with RICE Cakes, try eating 8 packets in one day...!! Boy I must be sad.. but delieve it or not I enjoy it, for now..

Best of luck...

OJ..

Si - did you warm first before you started, very important.. Anyway, suggest you take it easy with your shoulder, once you have an ijury, it will always be there in the background.. Work the shoulder in gently, I don'y knwo whether you was pushing with any heavy weights, if so, give it a rest and just use light weights for a while, even rest the shoulder for a week or so...

As for the protein mix, I tend to agree with you, some of the products really taste foul..!! I perfer to have eggs, taste better..

Try the creatine with carbonated water and I feel that the vanilla or chocolate promax/progain was the easiest to take.

Happy training!

Just been to the metro center and purchased 500g of "Pure Pharmaceutical Grade Creatine Monohydrate" for £14.99

And it recommends 20g (5 heaped teaspoons ) for 5 days then 2g per day after that!!!!!!

I'm gonna do 1 tsp. in the morning and 1 after I train.

ive just got back in, im taking that Creatine ES8000 i think.

Take one scoop in the Morning then one at night, i think that equates to 2 tables spoons per scoop.

Then same goes for the promax drink.

Training was harsh today. Managed 70kg on the smith press, Killed me
