Think so!

Not bad rowing times, Si. Is that on level 10?

I've managed 3.21 for 1000m - felt sick aferwards and took me ages to feel normal! Spoilt my training sesh.

Good way to warm up, though.

I aim for a 3.40 on L10 for a 1000m as any quicker just hurts!

Si, u posted :

"i started at 13stone in June, 13" arms.

No im 13.8 or something. 16" arms."

Were u fat back in June cos 3" of muscle on your arm should have increased your weight by about 2 stone, not .8, unless every pound of muscle went into your arm and nowhere else lmao!!!

Hmm call me a big 'ed but in 98 i dumbell bench pressed....66kgs for a few reps... Also benched 160kgs, form ok, not amazingly strict, but ok. Then tried 170kgs after a few hard sets (shouldn't have as i was by that point, fatigued) and hurt me shoulder . Still have to be careful with it now. At the time I was training with someone who eventually came 6th in Mr. Universe.

CV? 1 mile in 8 hours (probably) as I am totally out of shape (lazy cvnt), aerobically speaking lol

The above at 15.8 stone, now about 15.2 and about 90% of best strength. This is the year I wanna be in good ie 6 pack shape as i am gonna be 29 this year!!

"Doing it wrong", don't think so m8....my form was ok. Slowly lowered the bar, tbar briefly touched my chest, then (attempted) to blast it back back up.

Grovesy, the bench press *primarily* hits your pecs, but it also brings in lots of other muscles that act as support and stabilises the weight on the eccentric part of the movement. There's no way the bench press will ONLY work your pecs...thats why it's called a 'compound' movement, like squats and deadlift.

"Lifting more than I can handle", err no, I'd just pressed 160kgs and went for 170kgs, because the whole point of weightlifting is to get bigger and stronger.

My injury was due to the constant pounding my body had been taking after prolonged heavy, hard training.

Si, not increasing weight but getting bigger must mean you're losing/have lost fat too, nice one

170kg is a nuts weight to bench CC, unless you were specifically training for a powerlifting event, or, with the greatest respect, for an ego trip.

All i've ever seen on guys trying to lift mega-weights is injuries. It just isn't worth it.

Telboy, quite right, it was nuts...and yes it was an ego trip thing to see what we could do for one rep, but it must be said we rarely trained like that! Just that particular chest workout, we just thought we see what we could do....still kept our form though and we're obviously warmed up as we'd already done several sets by then.

i suppose there was a bit of rivalry between us (isnt there always some friendly rivalry between training partners?)....i beat him too lol, his physique looked 1000x better than mine as he had about 5% b/fat but i was slightly stronger.....

Do you know what units that uses (imperial / metric etc)

Theres a nutrition planner on the Maximuscle webpage that works out body fat from weight and height anyone know the formula to that and how accurate it is?

Si, bruising from lugging weights over your shoulders to get them into the correct position to press?

Or bruising just from the exercise itself?

The first one is ok, within normal limits of what you'd deem "acceptable", but if it's the second, no, that's not normal and might be a sign you're overdoing it.

But never having suffered from the second version, i'm not really in a position to diagnose it with any conviction to be honest, if that's how the bruising has occurred.

as above- bruise yourself by wacking weights against your body is fine (so to speak), your body wont bruise without somesort of contact of this type- unless you have mistaken a bruise for internal bleeding where you have ripped your muscle of the bone (you may notice this though as i hear it hurts )

you prob did it and didnt even notice if you were in the middle of a heavy set.
