Red face

Brusing !!! Doesnt sound good mate.

The only bruses I get is on the back of my neck after sqauts or on my shoulders after doing my calfs. Actualy the calf machince at my gym leaves red marks that look like scratches, Its always fun explaining to my lass why I have red scrathes on my shoulder !!!!

They can hurt, yes. When i squatted heavy, i used a length of pipe lagging around the bar, although "proper" bar protectors are probably longer-lasting, and i used a towel wrapped over double on my shoulders and traps too. Never used a squat suit, didn't like them. But definitely think about getting some Tubigrip to support your knees. And obviously a decent belt, which i assume you've got.

It's tough to get into, no doubt about it, but the satisfation from a decent squat workout is second to none. Although you can't push yourself to the max without a partner, even though it looks a bit "gay" spotting a guy doing squats. Get over that stigma (by becoming the biggest b@stard in the gym!) and it's not a problem.

Super-Si : some sound advice from others on this thread.. Don't forget your warm up before and afterwards warm down, to help your muscle and joints, lots of people forget this, just as importmant as pushing the weights. As for squats, you can'nt beat this.. lots of trainers neglect this area...

Not trying to boast, but I am currently the 'ANB NATURAL MASTERS BODYBUILDING GB CHAMP' (over 43 years old.. an old git) and came 3rd in the World Championship, so I do know and understand the world of training.. NO DRUGS..!!!

As for creatine, I use EAS no problem with the taste.. and have a healthy diet, occiassionally will have the odd take-away... as someone quoted on this thread it is good to have a rest..!!

Anyway, keep pushing it and take care...

OJ.........

Super Si,

Only if Roid Rage Kicked in! Lol!

Telboy,

I read somewhere a few years back they held some kind of powerlifting competition for the American footballers and 2/3 were able to bench 650/700lbs!!! I doubt this was to Powerlifting standards though.

Grovesy,

130Kg bench inlcudes the weight of the bar (20Kg for an Olympic bar).

Damian.
