£350 -------> £500

Agree with Mice_Elf, there has to be a limit. If, say, the father's income were £1M then the 15% (if that's the figure) would be a lot of money. That wouldn't reflect the cost of raising/caring for the child. The cost of raising/caring for the child is not a function of the other partner's income.
Beyond the point of covering reasonable costs, isn't it 'redundant' money? Surely to argue it's not is to argue that the CSA-authorised/defined payments are expressly over and above the child's requirements. i.e. for the other parent.

What exactly is classed as disposable income??? Is this whats left after mortgage, living expenses ( electric, food etc ) any debts, HP agreements/loans. ??
If the above is taken into consideration, take out a whopping loan, so you have no disposable income, and use the loan money to live on..or something along those lines.

Not trying to be argumentative, but why should another bloke have to pay for bringing up another man's children??

Barge,
My sympathies. I have three children and pay £500 per child per month...accepted. Its the 1K per month I pay my wife that really grates. She got all the equity in the house (180k) + 10K car + all the house contents. I got my Subaru + a 97% mortgage and live 13 miles from my children. I also pay school fees of 6k+ a year...I see them for 2 days in 14...........I am skint + pissed off with the system.
Her scumbag solicitor is pressing for the maintenance to be inflation linked and open ended(ex wife bit).
Happy new year!

Hello
I looked into this when I was getting divorced, and couldn't make head nor tail of the CSA rules. They seem to make it up as they go along.
Is anybody here a family lawyer, who actually knows what the rules are?
I pay £400 for my child to my ex-wife, but I wish to reduce this as I have a wife and just about to have my second child with her.
Steve.

I don't think the kids should suffer no, but if she is with another partner now after cheating, you should only have to pay half the costs, and make cheques out to the nursery etc...... I know that would be a total throb! but at least you would then know that's it's only going on your kids and not the cheating ex.

TJ we are 1 & the same.
No I'm not just going to sod off & eave cos the bitch will take it out on the children.
No I dont want her new bloke paying anything towards my kids, I get enough sh1te when I go & collect / deliver them at the moment let alone get more about him paying for them.
I see my Kids every other weekend Friday night thru Sunday afternoon.
yes I earn a lot, basic money is average but I do shed loads of OT, by shed loads I mean lots & lots, most I have worked in a week so far is 108.5 hours, average 90 per week.
CSA don't care if you don't have enough left at the end of the month to pay your own rent/food etc.
the ex. is just trying it on as I have a new wife & new baby so she is jealous [no change there then].
I did not know I could get tax relief, time to find out.
The youngest was at full time nursery, he start school next Thursday, but I was paying the nursery fees anyway

Working those sort of hours will either :-
1)Kill you
2)Give you your second divorce
I came from a large family and I learn't a couple of things from this.
1)My father worked rotating shift patterns for 37 years to support us. He was always in bed when I was growing up.
2)You spread yourself around so thinly, you never really get to know your kids.
I am amazed looking back on it that my parents stayed together. Many blokes would have legged it in his position.
I can't see you working yourself into the ground benefits anyone
especially you new family.

Barge,
Something else that may interest you is the new rules the CSA are about to bring in. If you have dependant children in your new relationship they set aside 20% of your income, they then take the remainder and it's 20% of that figure that's then paid to your dependant children from your previous relationship. It was a woman on the CSA's helpline that explained this to me, they have the guidlines already but no date to commence. Out of interest what % of your net take home do you pay ? - I currently pay about 30%

You work yourself to an early grave to pay maintance to the CSA so the cheating women gets a better quality of life?
As to the kids suffering she should of thought of that before sh@gging around. what about applying for custody of the children and let her pay maintainance with limited access? No chance is there your a man and therefore the system just screws you.

I'd be pretty pleased if I could get away with £500 / month for my wife and kids .
Unfortunately you're nuts are in a vice, and there is little that you can do without harming your kid's interests, which I'm sure you don't want to do.
Look at it this way... if you had the kids, the cost to you would be well in excess of £500 as you'd not be working, or be paying for full time child care (assuming they are pre-school age). Is your wife's man a net contributer to their household? If so it would be costing you more to house and keep your ex.
EDIT - sorry, didn't see you already had a 2nd family...

I always said that if something big like this ever happened to me, I would just sell EVERYTHING and move to New York or somewhere.
Just start a fresh, new identity etc. £1500 a month
