"writing-the-name-on-his-arm-in-ash trick?"

its exactly that sort of trick that makes blane look a muppet when exposed, as i recall, it uses a variety of camera edits, off camera conversations with the "victem", more camera edits, blane gets the "victim" to write his own name on paper followed by "ohh, not like that write it again...i'll chuck this one away without looking at it", more edits (while he looks at the name ), bit more off camera work while he writes the name on his arm.......hey presto! he's a bloody marvel!

paul daniels spare wig is more magic!

if you search the US sites on magic the masked magician seems to have killed his street stuff (the asked magician was a BIG show in the US), he seems to be getting a bit of a Jamie oliver reputation over there! ie. every one hates him!

T

edit to clarify- blane is like jamie oliver not the masked magician! meanwhile the masked magician seems to be hated as much as the fox network that showed his stuff thus wrecking the careers of hundreads of small time magic performers!

I have seen excellent leger de main magicians in the first person - some are crap, some are excellent (Gerry Sadowitz is particularly good), David Blane is simply better. Yeah the card through the glass is set up - but so what the art of the magician is great hands and deception.

Even David Blane explained his levitation trick - it is the simple toe balance thing - but the card handling was superb. maybe he has gone too far with the camera stuff - the best just keep it simple.
