The goverment represents the people.
When you look at what people on here say, I find that the government is pretty good

I'd let all these people kill themselves until ne of them makes it and then have peace. Over and done with the annoyance.

1. The problem with a democracy is theres no-one worth voting for.
2. Bring back Thatcher.
3. I'm off to populate another planet and start again. Anyone wanna join me? I've got a spaceship in a barn thats nearly ready for take off. I've found a new planet called "Eutopia." Its a beautiful place. Please come to the following postcode.... CY4 P33P5 and bring 2 black pair pants, 2 white vests, 1 black jacket, 1 pair black boots, 2 pair black socks and a flask of weak lemon drink. The time of redemption is nigh. Oh, and some peanuts would be nice.
So long and thanks for all the optimax....

All IMHO & present company excepted. The following is a condensed and basic version of what i mean, please keep this in mind when reading it ...What is happening in the world now has been going on for centurys ,different weapons, people, countries, reasons, but nothing is all that new.People have been murdering for no reason for centurys, and murdering for religious beliefs too,now if that ain't fu444D up what is
.I think it was devils refugee who said that 80% of population are "muppets"(sorry for the mis-quote) well sorry, but it is so, so true,"good as gold but stupid as mud " most people are quick to judge (and before you retort, this is a very carefully considered opinion,...philosophy does have it's advantages..)slow to forgive, resistant to considered rational thought....etc etc BUT(and it's a big but )are not bad people because of it.We could debate the way of the world till we're blue in the face but it will get us nowhere as we have only a fraction of the facts on world politics and even less info. on the insane thought procceses of people that do things like "kill their own kids". There is a line of reasoning that goes something like this "people that do things so strange and unusual (kill their kids ,rape women etc etc )must be insane to an great extent, the proof lies in the fact that a reasonably sane person would not commit such an act,so simply saying they are evil because they chose to do it is missing the point they did not choose as we understand choice because they are insane (drug (heroin) induced or not ) [wot] to take this reasoning to it's logical conclusion ....we are ALL insane to a DEGREE (i.e. watching people starve on tv while we battle our inner nature ,which says, "let 'em starve"
)If we really want to know what the world and human nature is like we need spiritual enlightenment, but, make no mistake, in todays mixed up world this is a mighty tough path and we may well not like what we "see" (although many seeming miracles are also exposed).(to do this subject justice needs pages and pages of text(in fact to convey properly, only a conversation or film will surfice)....this is a basic and partial version)If that was seen as a rant ...then...*rant mode off*

As was mentioned earlier, those who saw Rory Bremner's "Between Iraq and a Hard Place" will have seen many "examples" of how corrupt, criminal and cruel the western governments have been in recent (the last 50 or so) years. Sadly they still haven't learnt ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Far too many examples to describe here (unless someone has a transcript), but very scarey indeed
If you get a chance, watch a video of the program, and then comment further.

.. suppose all other govs. worldwide are innocent?? ... don't kid yourself mate . Rory Bremner is a shallow, bitter, s$ut stirring idiot if he thinks that it is just the west that have to make tough ,contradictory ,ruthless decisions to secure their own ideals(an open society means these things come to light easily, not so in many other countries)

Apology accepted for the misquote matty ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
But I agree with what you're trying to say.
An e-mail came round my office yesterday asking for any military reservists to contact the HR Dept![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
Thankfully, I have nothing to do with the forces.
A nice peaceful spot up next to a bubbling river deep in the hills awaits me...

Only the medical reservists who are on a different deal to the rest.
In peacetime there's little need for medical staff (80% of the Armed Forces are fit, young men). But in wartime it's entirely different!

Bush says "it's easy to hide the guns when there's no smoke"
Blix says "There's no evidence. There's no smoking guns"
Bush says "...but, but we know he has weapons of mass destruction...."
Hello ?!
It's like Bush is some screaming kid throwing a tantrum, jumping up and down on his cot-bed because of some notion that his toys are hidden in the cupboard.
Wake up man. War is no excuse to save your US budget from being a failure.
Leave this tin-pot dictator to himself or just admit that the black gold is all you're worried about.
I'd say the tensions in North Korea are far more serious.
Here we have a country which has openly restarted it's nuclear programme against UN treaties, thrown out UN reps, removed itself from the UN nuke pact, warned that sanctions will lead to war....and trying to palm us off with "it's for electricity" as a reason.
Coupled with the fact that there's growing tensions between two nuclear coutries, India and Pakistan, I'd say Saddam is not the "world" threat Bush is making him out to be. "Local" threat is what I'd peg him as.
Bush seriously messed up with Bin Laden, so he's only out to try and save his re-election bid.
Can't someone see that Bush is in fact a greater threat to world peace ?

I would think that the US intelligence agencies have more of an idea where the Iraqi WMD would be hidden than the UN inspection team. It amazes me why they have not made whatever information they have available to the UN team before. Also, they have only just started using helicopters to move to the sites they want to visit, which gives them a greater element of surprise. Iraq is a big country. I suspect that there are lots of places to hide the evidence. Not to mention the fact that the UN HQ for the inspectors is bugged and gives the Iraqis information as to where they are going to visit next.
As for N.Korea. It's all a bluff, IMHO. They are just making noises to try and get economic assistance from the EU and US. However, it does not meen that the gamble will ot back-fire on them...

Sorry, but ,a local threat in the region of the middle east where he is, instantly becomes a global threat even if "only " to the world economy and thus our ability to feed ourselves.I just don't believe that Sadlad Hussein has destroyed all of the chem. and bio. weapons that we all KNOW that he had, just ain't buyin' that...

Somebody mentioned calling up the reservists and general callup.
I have it on good authority (but cannot say who it is) that the callup of reservists is initially to cover the troops who were going to be covering for the firefighters (if/when another strike occurs), currently there is no plan to send them into action (although of course this might change when the body bags start pilling up).
Personally I think if there is a war without the weapons inspectors locating WOMD then it's a disgrace. Both US & UK governments claim to have hard evidence that IRAQ has WOMD, but neither it would seem is prepared to pass this information on to the UN weapons inspectors. Wouldn't it make most sense for the weapons inspectors to look for these weapons in the locations the secret services say they are?
It's all a game, there will be a war because Corporate America wants one, it needs to boost it's arms manufacturing and 'distract' the voters from the fact that the economy is turning to mush, much like our very own government over here.
The human race really is a bunch of idiots if we let fools like Bush & Blair run the show. How sad that many innocent people are likely to die because of the whims of a bunch of others who already have more money than they know what to do with.

I'm gonna be Charleton Heston in Planet of the Apes when it kicks off ....... "They finally, really did it. You maniacs! You blew it up! God damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
I've got mixed feelings about all this. The justification for going to war has been Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. They tried to justify it when Iraq wouldn't let the UN inspectors into the country. Now the UN tell us they haven't found anything suspicious, but we still are mobilising troops.
Looks to me like the US have already made their decision to invade and are just making excuses to hide their real agenda. Of course, the UK is being dragged into this.
If I was still a reservist, I'd be a bit nervous right now. I'm all for fighting for my country and would have been proud to serve in Afghanistan, but I've an uneasy feeling about how this is panning out.
Is Question Time on TV this week? would be quite an interesting discussion with plenty of upfront questions being asked.

PS.. yup it's a £££ked up world. [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img] ...but what do you expect from a planet of partly evolved monkeys
. Human kind is a strange thing , if someone proposed it it would be outlawed
instantly ,but as we already exist i guess we'll have to live (and die ,eventually) with it .The best we can do is do our bit, give a little to charity ,don't worry, and have fun ,look on the bright side we already own scoobys so we're doin' the last one ok.
Edited to say...try not to be bitter and cynical as it clouds one's spirit(you know, that bit of you that enjoys beauty ,art, music,& ...LIFE!! )
