Should be a lot of fun Steve, It's a tall order to take on a car like Gareth Lloyds, but i think it's doable on the sprint track. (that will have to be a perfect run though, gareth and his car are awesome) No idea on the rest?

Apologies if my post seemed more aggressive than I intended. I was simply responding to the general tone of your first post, which seemed to indicate "Why did those Americans get this car, none of them will be able to appreciate it anyway." I know this is not what you said, but taken as a whole with the comments about US drivers, etc. I felt it was a bit in poor taste.
One could just as easily make comments about Italian drivers... it's a land of extremes. On one extreme you have the cell-phone talking clueless woman in the massive Ford Expedition who cuts off 4 vehicles on her way to the exit ramp... and on the other extreme you have enthusiasts like us, mostly intelligent 20 or 30something professionals with the income and the discerning taste to love Subarus for what they are. Fantastic drivers' cars, not because of the hype but because of the driving experience.
I agree you all have been robbed of the DCCD, and it sounds like IM could use a forcible change in management. In Japan I understand the DCCD is the first thing they remove when modifying for power, so maybe you all are the lucky ones.

Gareth won the event with a 31.84s time
My fastest was 33.03s which was faster than the Noris designs 580BHP evo.![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
Considering at the time i had my stock suspension, normal road tyres, standard engine and flat spark plugs (abandoned the top speed run cos of them) i was pretty chuffed with that.
Based on that i need to find 4% more overall performance to give Gareth a hard time, or find 1.19 seconds over the same length course. I think that is possible in Adam and Anders cars to be honest. I know Gareth was well impressed with what my RA could do.
It's easy to get carried away thinking that isnt a lot to find though, the fight Puff and I had was bloody briliant, finding those last few 1/10's is hard work!

john,, glad you ahve faith in my car, but I honestly dont believe the standard suspension stands a chance of taking on that car round the track.
Didnt realise you got so close to him, but I would have thought if anything, witht he extra power and torque of my car coupled with the overdamped and undersprung standard 22B suspension, I reckon you would be hard pressed to beat your own time!
What the hell has anders had done that I dont know about?

Have faith Adam, i think this is very doable. On this kind of course standard suspension isnt such a deficit, especially if it rains. It would help with a proper suspension package, but we have a good chance of at least handling the best EVO's, Gareths car will be a struggle, but it will be good fun trying.
half the battle will be Gareth himself, the guy is a brilliant driver, he has won many national championships and even won his class in the nurburgring 24hr race.

I dont consider it good enough. I had always planned to change it although at this stage I have no idea what with.
If someone can present me witha decent option that isnt so over complicated that I will screw up the handling (I dont understand it well enough), then I will consider it.
Was going to go for something simple like the PSS9 billies kit, but it turned out to be a let down. All the other more upmarket kits need rebuilding too often.
Was even tempted to put P1 suspension on, but I think it is going to need to be harder to cope with the acceleration.
thing is despite extra grunt, I was no way cornering at the limit of the car before hand, its not like I am going to corner faster than the shocks can cope with just cos the car has twice the power!
the other point was that in my one venture onto track, I have to say the 22B suspension was awesome.
Dont know if it was the extra wheel tracl or something but I was able to drive around the outside of people, brake later and carry much more speed through the bends than the other cars on track with me!

You need to get the car built and running Adam, then asses how it copes with the increase in torque by doing some testing. Take it from there then.

something I am not.
I have a terrible suspicion that once completed I will be bored with it very quickly and end up reverting the car back to a spec that I can almost handle.
Either that or learn howe to dirve properly.
I honestly think it is a crime for that car to be in my possession.
Would you like to be responisble for speccing the suspension?

be happy to test it for you Adam, work out what it is you want from the car and take it from there. Everyone needs something diferent depending on how they use it or how comfortable a driver they are. Be a good exercise for sure.

spinning was possibly the best learning experience for me in a car ever.
Apart from some fumblings off road a long time ago with an attractive 5ft 10 brunette.
never would I have consider putting down more power whilst opposite locking to prevent it from spinning, but in hindsight I know it would have saved me.

Well...After reading this thread...I agree with John...Just so everyone is aware...Prodrive is opening a Shop in Michigan here in the near future....Have just one thing to say about it all....I Wish Subaru would have given us the turbo GC8 way back when....Still my favorite body style....

Don't they produce enough of the 2.0L standard WRX to meet homologation requirements? Is there some rule that says a manufacturer is prevented from making any version of a common chassis vehicle that has larger than 2.0L displacement?
Forgive me if I'm completely wrong, but I thought the requirement was that you had to build a certain number of vehicles with the correct displacement and drivetrain layout for Group N... not that you were completely prevented from building better cars based on the same model.

Why only 300bhp then ?????? Surely they must have thought about it.
If they wanted to stuff the E8 why not do it in style and makes 400bhp 2.5. You can buy a warranted STi7 with 300bhp right now

25% more cc and no more bhp, errr what thats all about. Sounds like it should have 25% more power I would be asking why it isnt 375bhp.
Oh and BTW 1450kgs and 350bhp still only gives 244bhp/ton which incidentally would only need a mildly tweaked RA to 300bhp have to get 244bhp/ton as well

BUT we are talking standard for standard and the US STi is being sold with 300bhp so any predicted tuning results are pie in the sky ATM.

you measure octane in PON, we measure it in RON, we are not that diferent in terms of octane.

you misunderstood what i said Jason. Anyway, it doesnt matter, i was just disapointed you went off on one when you should know me better than to think i would slag all USA drivers off, there are some good ones, in general they do suck though.
Next time you are over get in touch and i'll give you a run on track if i can, you are buying the beer and chill pills though!
I dont think they do remove the DCCD, that would be stupid, you get lower transmition losses through that than a conventional viscous non DCCD setup and it adds so much to the car as a whole.
Adam, Gareth Lloyds car is the most succesful road legal racing car in the country. It is a fully developed 580BHP, 7 speed Escort Cosworth, it is very very fast. Gareth can drive too! If we beat that car we will have earned it!
Gareth won the sprint section last year.
