This is a really great looking car. Im rather interested in the push button 2wd/4wd thing, could that be the same drivetrain they put in USDM legacys in the late 80's? I believe some were 1600cc and quite a few came with 4wd.

I agree with the others by the way, screw the insurance company and drop in a wrx drivetrain. You only live once

Dont be tempting me now lads. I feel much safer in the 1600 than the 2ltr turbo. At least now when im doing 65 i feel it. I used to be doing 100 on the turbo before i actually felt the speed. The costs over here are unreal in relation to upkeep and insurance.
I have more money now to spend on styling mods rather than upkeep now and petrol. I do miss the power like mad but in due time i will hopefully be driving some 300+bhp impreza. Lotto Numbers anyone????..

Talking

didnt realise this post was still around.

stodwyer i notice youv'e got the 1.6 standard front brakes on your scooby. I just swaped mine for wrx ones! makes a hell of a difference. You cant change the rear drums for discs apparently as it causes too much work. but if you consider replacing the front ones i suggest you swap to wrx brakes. oh and get a strut brace the help the handling out alot.

hows the car going now? he he iv'e got the same interiour as you.

Dale

Cheers Dale,
How is it too hard to replace the brakes in the back. Im thinking of getting an STI brake kit for the front and rear. 4 pots. I got qouted 550stg for the lot. I think they were group N spec. Thats my next mod on the car. Any pictures of your car?. Ive ordered the stiv5 front bumper with covers. Should have it next week. just need to get the indicators and maybe the foglamps.
how much you pay for the wrx brakes?.

The interior is very comfortable isn't it. Seats are deeper than the standard uk turbo ones.

Sean...

P.S My car is a bit different than the previous pics. Did a bit of changes in sticker and roof vent areas.

Cool

hi,

i had the front brake conversion done at town end garage i think it cost about £100 or somthing like i'm not too sure unless i look because it was part of a load of service work i had done.

i have been told that in order to change the rear drums to discs the hubs/driveshafts and diff maybe prop shaft have to be changed as it is all different. some people have disagreed with this but know one really knows for sure.

the other thing i was trying to sort out is where to get suspension that fits from. are the 1.6's regarded as 2.0 sports in this way or are they different again.

i wish someone had been there and done this before me.

i will have some pictures of my car soon

your car being a 2-door might be a different story to what i have been told if you find anything out let us know

Cheers
