Sam, me for the airfield please!

That'd be my first chance to meet you all scoobynet folk, and I desperately need driving practice!

Thanks,
Sergey

No, just stating a fact !

I could have said 'big turbo's blow' but I didn't want you getting the wrong idea and trying to seduce it

Thumbs up

Sorry for not making it guys and gals, was looking forward to it big style and it's just a further scooby slap in the face that this has happened

You've maybe read from my post in general forum or whatever but the details are as follows :

UK MY99 standard apart from Magnex d/pipe (fitted last month), swana b/box, ITG panel filter hmmmmmmm
FSSH with 86k, always warmed up/cooled down

Had a bit of a lumpy idle (maybe the 2nd MAF I've had to replace ) then, developed a flat spot at @ 4k revs and thought plugs to be the culprit

Changed plugs and car would hardly run under 3k revs, so thought maybe an HT lead had knackered during the plug change as I presume they have been on since new. Tested them and resistance was all over the place. Tried new leads and tested coil pack and still running like bag of ****. Even re-fitted old plugs

Gave in and limped to Nobles who confirmed zero compression in cylinder 3. Cause to be determined on Thurs when they have time to open it up but my gut feeling tells me that it ain't good. Hopefully only damage to a valve but prepared for knacked everything..

Very coincidental following plug change (carried out my a mate... possibly soon to be an ex-mate) but Colin Noble says the chances of any debris falling in during plug change is minimal...the jury's out till thursday

Unhappy

Debris falling in is pretty unlikely IMHO - they sit horizontally after all. Cross or stripped thread maybe ?? They are pretty tricky to get at.
Bad luck mate, but maybe it'll be just (!!??) a new head. Fingers crossed for something cheaper though !

If it was major ie a piston, there would normally be a bit of noise and a cloud of smoke.
Valves tend to be reliable but may be a gasket ?

Exclamation

I'm going to have to pull out of the airfield event and give my place to someone else. My car isn't going to be ready in time! It's driveable on the damaged alloys but I can't chuck it around for risk or rolling the tyre right off them

Gutted, was really looking forward to this.

Next time

Just two alloys but one is bad enough that it would be dangerous to chuck the car around. I'll probably spend the day giving her lots of TLC

Thanks though
