Whats her target customers,...."snipits" sounds like your everyday sort of place..
What about just calling it "Clare's"...sounds a bit more classy....my present place is called "Jays"....
Alternatively, just look in the yellow pages for ideas.

SS, that's a very good point. It's for that very reason that i've thought "Clare's" all along.
Although there have been some very ummm, "unique" suggestions
Cheers guys, keep em coming tho, there may be a golden nugget out there waiting to be discovered

If you call it "Clare's" people with think it's that accessories shop that my little sister spends all her money in on scrunchies and glitter and crap.
How about:
Shear Pleasure
The Chop Shop
Cutting Wit

Da Booga........whatever you call it,and i still think a simple one word name is the best, ultimately its success or failure will come down to...
1.The quality of the staff.
2.Location.
3.The environment of the salon.
4...and price...with price,imo,being the least important factor.
Godd luck to your missus mate....

Cheers guys,
Dogmaul - i'm sure a small discount could be arranged And thanks for the Selby comment i'll cross you off the discount list shall I
Southstar - I know what your saying, she's got a very good rep with her existing customers and already has a decent core of them willing to follow her. The salon is just outside of the centre of Selby with a decent size housing estate nearby too.
+DOC+ - Initially it's just hair although it is a purpose built hair & beauty building so the opportunity is always there once she has settled down to expand.
Plus the best bit is the salon is literally at the end of our street so well within walking distance so she'll hopefully be safer travelling
Cheers,
Gareth
