Hi let me first say im a great fan of scooby's and hope to own one sometime soon..
I was also at donno on sunday and watched this metro eat all in its way even YES the scooby's.. there were a couple of cars faster but it wasn't a scoob sorry guy's.
as i was there as a spectator i timed several cars and i also got the metro as 3rd fastest on the track with a red escort mk2 as 1st..
But i guess he spent a little more than £500
Cheers
Daz..

Hi i was at donnington too on sunday ( blue metro 5 door that kept getting over taken LOL )
Ive really just come to make a little correction. That website is a little out of date now and that was from about 1 year ago. The car had been there to basically test the new engine and see how it went. Currently the car is running around 200 - 220 bhp, and thats with a heavly modifyed 1800 K series. I think at last count the car weighed about 850 kg.
Anyway i though donny was a great day (my first track day), and i hope it didnt get in the way of you scooby drivers too much
Cheers

The times varied from 1.23 up to 1.29
remeber still only a metro and running in at that too..
i only timed the metty 4 or 5 time but was impressed or i wouldn't of bothered to time it
i hear that it should be back at donno in 2 weeks so we will see if your there..
p.s
i was also impresed by your scoob at most of the time you were quicker than the P1

There are plenty of nice TypeR's out there Phil, maybe you need someone to find you one.
As to the track policy of IM, thats up for debate. I think IM are more interested in invalidating your waranty if you modify the cars, rather than use them on track. There are well know cases of IM removing waranty cover for engine mods, exhausts etc but i am not aware of any being removed for track use. The terms of the waranty booklet dont allow them to as long as the events are not timed.
The problem isnt UK owners, it's IM and their choice of cars they import IMHO. It's also Subaru themselves for not giving the UK market the best available cars. Until they do that i have no intention of buying a UK spec car, i see no benefits to owning one and i dont like the handling of the UK spec transmition.
Just look at the USA market now, they are getting an Oficial USDM STi with a 2.5 turbo and DCCD-A Transmition system. If the USA can have a proper STi with the right kit on it, IM/European network has no excuses not to sell a proper Japanese spec STi, rather than the watered down versions of the cars we get here.
have a look at this footage from Bedford, driving these cars for fun, sideways is easy, a P1/STi typeUK will just understeer sideways compilation
And last but not least Is this the rear tyre scrub pattern of a car that understeers under power? I dont think so. LOL

Yeah? Well done, it was fun until we got the finger!
Not sure what you mean by "before you wrapped your £500 touch into the side of us"?
We didn't touch or hit the side of you!
