Sorry, but we all do this on a voluntary, unpaid, basis - at the cost to our own work and personal time.

Thats fine - we choose to do it and are not looking for thanks or sympathy. The other side of that is that we don't have the time (in most cases) or inclination (in some) to have to explain our actions.

This is, supposedly, a free country. If you don't like the way it happens, then thats your perogative. No one forces you to post on this BBS.

Play by the rules or don't play at all. Is that so hard to understand? Doesn't seem to bother the majority of the 21,000 or so registered members.

As for double standards - I accept that there are going to be apparent issues here. After all, as I have stated above - we have lives outside scoobynet and cannot be here all the time.

Unlike some, who cannot seem to differentiate between real life and the web.

As a result we have to rely to a greater part on the RTM facility.

And Jlanng - just what part of f***ing w**k isn't antagonistic? I strand by my point. Responses such as that are not clever, and do not stand the poster in particularly good light.

And to clarify a point, its the type of posts that are moderated that alienate the long standing members of this BBS - not the moderation thereof.

OK. So why don't we just drop the subject now? The Mods are gonna moderate whatever in their opinion needs moderating! It's silly to carry on having a go at them for it.

I think in certain cases they have been overly sensitive but as someone has already had a visit from the plod for a controversial comment/thread I think they are valid in what they are doing for the time being!

I'm leaving this thread for a while because it really is giving me a headache!!!!!!

Just think about it guys...... Scoobynet could get shut down just because a couple of people can't accept that their comments are innappropriate.

Discussions over scoobynet 'policy' seldom result in anything constructive.

Fact:
The law states that Scoobynet can be held accountable for users posts
Fact:
Scoobynet does not want to be sued for libel, slander and offensive behavoir.
Fact
'Anti Community' spirit posts will be edited if in the moderator opinion they serve only to wind people up
Fact
Scoobynet moderators are only human, have finite time and cannot read the content of every post. They have to rely, to a certain extent on the report to moderator feature.

Therefore the scoobynet moderators will remove or edit any posts that they feel will be 'anti community, libelous, slanderous or offensive.

Posts that are RTM'd will be viewed with a light that action should be taken IF the moderator agrees with the RTM(no matter how many they get on the posts)

If you don't accept this then:
1. Why did you agree to the T&C on the sign up page?
2. Go and start your own BBS that allows all the above and wait for the law suits to come rolling in.
