Just awaiting the phone call to pick it up

Last quote was £2,640 and rising steadily

as long as they find the cause
That's the bit that they still aren't 100% certain about....

but the plugs looked very white so there must have been some sort of fueling issue and I would place my money on MAF No.3 going pop

Luckily for you Theo that never took place

However in my defence it was running perfectly (as Kenny will vouch for as there wasn't much between the 2 cars when tested) well before it went boom

How's the world of Golf ownership treating ya?

Your original question is exactly the situation i'm in at the moment, so i'm unfortunate enough to be able to answer that!

Sti5 V-Limited with 27k miles on it, FSH, oil pump failed and lunched the WHOLE motor. £6k rebuild currently underway. Warranty Holdings have refused to pay out, saying it was "low on oil" at some point (bullsh1t!)so i'm having to take it to court to get my money back - tho i still have to find the money up front plus costs etc.

Whilst its in, i'm getting the vandalism (key marks/stolen badge etc) reopared too - another £250 excess.

Also needs new brakes and clutch.

So, its going to be sold. I don't expect to end up shelling out such big moey on a 25k car after 2 years careful ownership - its a TT or Bimmer for me next i'm afraid - or at least a manufacturers warranty on something more exciting.

Subarus have a reputation for my reliability - My **** the are!Loads of these things are going pop and i'm not risking it happening again. Someones gonna get a superb car for decent price and i expect it'll run perfectly for the next 10 years!

Nightmare situation mate and I do feel very sorry for you....

It does make you wonder about the 'good old Japanes reliability' claims..

Bollox if you ask me

Loads of folk will come on here and say
aye, but you are only hearing about the small percentage that go boom
Well, I'm hearing of a this a hell of a lot and it's getting more and more, as more imprezas get the miles on them

I do however consider my situation to perfectly normal and now fully expect to pay at least £7,000 quid every year for repairs on any car I own

Talking

We've got loads of contractors here where I work and 90% of the them drive old bangers. One bloke bought an old Pug for £500. He drove it for 12mths, then the head gasket blew and rather than paying £700 for the fix, just abandoned it in our car park.

It last 3 months before the leaves fell of the trees and the local kids spotted it.

They torched it whilst I was on holiday at Xmas

Sometimes I wish I just had an old banger to run around in.
