Been reading the thread and I don't understand one thing !!
"warned not to publicise" and "Claim their makin an example of me"
don't seem to fit together ??
Would'nt the courts want the publicity ?
Just a question ...
Dave.

It's the A82 on the way up to Glencoe/Fort William. I think that pic was taken on the long straight coming out of Glenoce making our way back through Rannoch Moor.
Probably along here to be exact

According to the gear ratios for a P1 he is doing over 160mph Assuming the photo is genuine
I didn't know the P1 wheel size so I guessed at 225/45 17s (can anyone confirm or deny?)
Anyway a P1 with those wheels would be doing 158.57mph at 7000rpm so at 7150rpm he'd be doing over 162mph

In that case he speedo is reading under, something manufacturers will no way go for. Maybe puts some doubts on using those gear ratio figures for speed tests? or like you say a dodgy image
Get it timed properly or forever hold your piece
p.s does a scoob speedo only got to 160mph?

It may well be under-reading because it only goes up to 160mph. My mums 1.3cl polo used to go a fair bit above 100mph when on a hill but the speedo only went up to 100mph.

Shame he doesn't have a oil temp gauge. I remember I rumbled someone on the Saxo site who had his VTS off the clock. It actually possible to do that because I did but he took the soft option and photoshop'd it. It was going well till I pointed out his oil temp was just below normal and that it goes up very very quickly when doing a high speed run. Usually by the time your doing an indicated 130mph its moved well above normal
I can't make the rain out

And also if you zoom in on the STI logo it's been cut and pasted, or there is something not quite right with the left hand side of it... Also the needles have an orange tint around them.
Hey it could just be a very crap camera...

I would've expected the outside world to look like it was going by much faster'n that.
Perhaps you could try it once more but sort of straight ahead so we can see some road.
Or better yet use a camcorder..... Who was that Jap guy that got prosecuted for filming his 200mph run then selling the video with pics of his number plate on?

Ozzy,
Top bit of road that (A82), In fact I have to self-impose a maximum limit along the straights (erm 61 mph).
I had a few sleepless nights after my last run up there in October 2002, as there was a mobile speed unit at the end of the very same straight. Fortunately they had just packed up for the afternoon - don't worry though, the copper did not seem to be to fussed about the 1 mph infringement, you might not be so lucky.

Regarding the actual recorded speed, I don't know what all the fuss is about…..Is it real Is it not?
Ok the speed maybe mad, but the car can record this no problem. I know a decat PI that will read 10 MPH worth past the 160 MPH on the speedo. In fact to be precise the needle will go to the edge of the MPH marking on the speedo clock and I know the owner has had it there many many times.
Saxo; You now know it too
