Hasn't a P1 got that alcantara interior, sort of RB5 stylee? Sort of convienient that given the interior AND exterior of a very blue car it is not reflected anywhere! Some sort of Blue hue. Know what I mean?
Mikey
Not convinced but can't say for sure
Just joining in the giggle

Ok so its not hard evidence but it I have some more circumstantial evidence
The fuel gauge is as full as full gets yet he is doing 160mph at full revs on full boost. This would give low single figure mpg and at 160mph he is travelling 1 mile every 23 seconds. Given its daylight it is unlikely he was able to fill up to the brim at a petrol station and then go straight out on an emptyish road to make his run. More likely time (hence fuel) was spent looking for the oppertunity and that a few runs were aborted due to traffic (daylight). One thing is for sure, by the time he got onto the right road, got the opportunity, got up to that speed and held it long enough to take a picture the fuel gauge would have moved. All he needs is a minute or two at that high load to burn of a gallon of fuel or more.
My only experience of high speed runs in the scooby involved me crapping it (even when I had the road to myself) at an indicated 150mph (note to police, I strongly believe my speedo is over-reading by more than 100%
). I noticed two things that night: that the wind forces
its way into the frameless windows above 140; and that during the run the fuel gauge moved a lot!!!
more than enough for me to notice!!
In short, I say hoax

Another thing! Unless you were completely insane the only place you'd ever dream of trying something like this on public roads would be a nice big empty stretch of motorway. In that case the 'other carraigeway' should be visible but judging by the proximity of the grass verge the car is not on a motorway ![Confused](images/smilies/confused.gif)
This is fun

Gotta agree with most of the points there. Clock not on, fuel gauge on full.
Also, doesnt the P1 steering wheel have red stitching on it as well?

don't know scooby dash that well but isn't the needle on the fuel guage actually mounted a (small )distance above the surface of the guage? if it is then given the angle of the picture its quite possible that it would be reading less than full from straight ahead.

couldnt be ars£d to read the whole thread- but something occurs to me- doing 160 in a P1 would produce quite a lot of vibration I would imagine (judging from what 140 MPH feels like in a classic turbo). the photo looks as free from vibration as if the picture was taken parked up on someones drive/grassy knoll etc
If anyone else had that theory then sorry but at least I'll have done my bit in lengthening this now (very) boring thread.

i cant see the problem 162 isnt that fast when i tok my new classic my97 to 150 2 nites ago on the way back from work late shift
slowed down for up coming traffic on the duel carrigeway, checked my speed and shat myself when i saw what the clocks said
my speedo was recalibrated 2000 miles ago when the car was converted for uk roads, not sure how much was left or anything, like i said i didnt relise i was going that fast (had to destroy the beemer tho lol) as soon as i glanced down and saw the big 150 i backed off lol
need to get used to this car a bit more me thinks!!
an extra 12mph is not that much???
i was gonna retry the test last nite after work but was running out of optimax fast! so i had to make do with sum SUL

I agree with what Kenny says and I noticed in the original picture the guy posted that the outside view was of a bit of grass that did not appear to be going at any speed relative to the car.
I still think it was done with the car up on stands and the guy who posted it is a "Walter Mitty" of the first water.
I still say it is the height of irresponsibility to drive at that sort of speed on a public road. If you kill yourself that is up to you, its just the poor innocent you might take with you I feel sorry for. As the man said-do it on a track day.

u know what annoys me people keep saying how irrasponsible this is but i bet u nearly everyone of the has broken 100mph out of the town and done at least 50 in the town where people are walking around. SO WHATS MORE DANGEROUS 50 IN THE TOWN where their are more houses??????????????

I don't think this thread is leading anywhere, except further into the kind of stuff scoobynet does'nt want to get involved in. We've had numerous complaints from users about this thread so it's time to lock it.
Sometimes, threads can be against the interests of the community as a whole and this is one of them. It's not one person that has lead to the thread being locked, but a whole load of factors too numerous to list.
