Yes we developed them, stupidly used them in WW11 as did the Germans. They have not been used by us since!
They are banned by various conventions, yes i know people still develop them.
Lest we forget and part of the EU - hmmm, as stated above in one of my rants the Germans and French reluctance in the former Yugoslavia cost many thousands their lives! BECAUSE of the lack of solidarity shown by the French and Germans so this cuts both ways does it not!
In this case the US and British showed the way forward for the rest of the cowering whimps of europe - as usual!
And as far as Iraq goes would you live there, would you want Saddam as your leader, is is a fair and just country???
I think i know the answer to this one don't I.

I'd ask how many of the go ahead Rambo heroes on this thread will remain safe at home whilst our servicemen are out there getting their pan knocked in , and for what ? US/UK relations.
The reason for German reluctance is that its actually constitutionally illegal for German troops to be deployed in foreign countries unless its for peace keeping or humanitarian duties. The reason for this is historically clear.
The ***** knocking the French forces who are currently involved in a war action in the Ivory Coast for example whilst they sit surfing the net eating a big mac make me laugh. France have been involved in probably move non domestic wars than the UK since the end of WWII so its likley they are more than able to handle themselves. The thing about France is that they are definately not in bed with the Americans.
You ***** watch too much TV.

Paul Habgood, there were no reported incidences of Gas or Chemical attacks in WWII. I also wouldn't want to live in Northhamton but it doesn't mean i'd be happy for someone to bomb the crap out of it and we would all be speaking Russian not German....as the Germans would have lost the war to the Russians.

Camk - You seem to feel quite stongly - Perhaps you should stop being one of these Ramnbo/.Internet types and if you feel so strongly then poin up with the French on the Ivory coast
As for no reported Gas attacks, then the people suffering from mustard gas must have done it to themselves then did they.
Please read
In response to a request, I thought I'd look at Mustard Gas poisoning in particular. It was a nasty device and continued to kill people in the 1920's through making them more suceptable to illnesses. It left many disabled for life. I know many won't like my cartoon on the left, but that's my warped sense of humour for you. What it does hint at is that chemical warfare didn't start in WW1. In ancient times fires were lit so that smoke choked the other side, especially if the things you were burning was soaked in tar or oil. Hot oils were tipped over attackers besieging castles. So these things had gone on before.WW1 took root. Gas as we know it was first used on the western front at Ypres in 1915 (it had been first used on the eastern front) when they released Chlorine gas which was a suffocator, it caused great terror. It was deployed by pipe and was blown by the wind. The allies used it also, with a spectacular own goal at LOO's where the British managed to gas many of there own men.. The race was on to who could build the most effective gas, with differing agents being used and differing delivery devices. Masks were naturally introduced so the next step was to develop a gas that would penetrate masks. At the end of the war there were many different types of gas
- Taken from http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/kylet1/gas.htm
Perhaps this was a different WW1 then?
BTW - IT was a KFC on a big mac
as for us ***** watching to much tv - You assue to little, i also listen to thee radio, use the internet and talk to people as well. How do you form your opinions?

After all we have done for them during the war this is the thanks that we get? A slap in the face I tell you.
As a UK taxpayer i'm not that keen that the UK seems to be taking the brunt of the responsibility,AND COST,(with the US of course).
Who gave the Government the right to spend huge amounts of OUR money on this.
A joint European action yes,...a go it alone UK action no.

He-He just found this apparently the Germans used mustard gas in the Ukraine during WW11
Have a look
German government. Chemical weapons such as phosgene and mustard gas were regularly used in Poland against Soviet troops. In March ...

Military intelligence eh - Isn't that a contradiction in terms

Paul,
But we didn't and that's why we can sleep at night...more interesting in the site you pointed to was the total War dead by country.....7M Germans(Civilians and Services) and 29m Soviet Civilians, 400K British and Commonwealth(50K civilians)....think of the physical impact in Britain and look at the numbers, Germany and Russia must have been flattened.

you expect our 2 biggest historical enemies to side with us???!!!????!!!!?????? the French are basically a bunch of sore losers with an attitude problem and our German friends..........lets say they like more than their fair share of the beach/sunbeds/motor industry etc.
All your complaints sound like par for the course to me......we stand alone..............an island!

Paul,
I think you'd be better off expressing your xenophobic feelings on a private web site.
Some people get drawn into war by the US, some dont want any of that. Leave them alone.

I think you will find it was the Germans who first used mustard gas in WW1 against the canadian and French trenches, the french having no protective equipment up and ran away and the canadians caried on fighting. Now this revelation was brought to you by a Tv program I was watching here in Germany where I live and speak German and love Bratwurst

The issue is more that Saddam has used Chemical weapons on his own people
Weapons supplied by the USA and England on credit even though Both governments new what they would be used for.

Last year saw an bizarre clash at a gathering of EU leaders when M Chirac, angered after tough exchanges over Iraq and EU farm prices, told Mr Blair he had never been spoken to so rudely.

Well said rayman, To go to war is an admission of failure.
Those of you who want it obviously don't have relatives in the firing line. Many innocent people will die fot this crusade,it will not bring peace to the middle east and IMHO make parts of the UK look like the West Bank. Do you really want Marshal Law introduced into the UK ?.
