I can't understand why you would want to change an STi 7 for an STi 8. They are basically the same car.

Some people have too much money

So buy a Jap import like i did Dave, get one with the DCCD, trust me, it will change your opinion on driving a Subaru for ever, the DCCD is the absolute dogs. The STi8 Jap spec comes with an Auto DCCD too, so no more having to waste your brain energy on trying to understand it, you just drive it. It still has the manual overide should you wish to be a proper driver too.

Give it a go, or at least test drive one. It would be a real kick in the nuts for IM if you bought an Import and then realised what you have been missing out on, they are a much better car IMHO and you WILL enjoy driving it!

write to watchdog, dont make me laugh!

If u have a new car for a few months then decide to get rid of it then you should also expect to lose a shed load on it, I have no sympathy at all, its just pure idiocy to then start moaning and wailing just becasue you want the next new thing.

As was suggested why not buy a car a few years old while the depreciation has already hit. Dare i say it, but classic stis and ppp's are at a good price now, even the later models. You wont have to put up with losing £8000 in a few months

Well, personally, and call me a snob, but I don't buy obsolete old junk that someone else has thrashed beforehand. Did that 30 years ago when I was 18

So, finally you agree with me (you knew I was right all along ).

Like John said, how about an STi 8 with DCCD or wait and see if they produce the 2.5 STi for the JDM market (I suspect they will) and import one of those - they should be quite good

Possibly....but being the maverick regarding not lining IM's pockets any more, I was thinking more along the lines of a Focus Cosworth

If it happens, will be around 2004/5 which will coincide with getting rid of the 7
