Have to say I think the 03 looks pretty good to me. The WRC cars on the Monty certainly look the business (from the front) not sure about the milk crate on the boot though!
I owned a 00 and loved its looks, although the bug eye did grow on me especially with the headlamp conversion.

The MY03 looks better than the MY01/02 but I’m still not sure about the scoop, but I would like to see some bonnet vents.
The classic still rules for me.

not sure about slant eye yet...inital impression having been in one is NO dont like it.
bug eye with morrettes is excellent.
Why would i say that? just a simple poll i get loads of "nice car" comments from people i meet in car parks/ streets /traffic lights it turns heads.
Yes i do own an 01 and i used to own an old shape before that.
In the end its a pointless debate, fun but pointlesss cos subaru have built the 03 and thats that.

I prefer the 03 to the bug eye - BUT the WRC's bonnet looks better !
A guy down the road has a bug eye and I wouldn't swap my classic, even with its 98 small spoiler.....but I'd consider an 03 ...
I don't think you can beat a 22B though !

IMO the MY03 is a tad better than the bug eye. That scoop has gotta go though - way over the top!
From reading some of the other posts on this thread, I agree that more aggression is still required. The latest offering just seems to be a patch up after ballsing the whole thing up with the MY01-02's.
I'm still stuck on my RB5, until Subaru can come up with something better, I'll quite happily stick to driving round in an 'old shed'!!!
Keep smilin'

The bug eye didn't impress me much at first but it has grown on me enough that I bought one. I think I prefer the standard lights to the various twin conversions too.
The old model is to my eyes at least just that - old. Over the last year or so I thought that my MY98 looked dated when I saw it sitting in carparks surrounded by newer designs.
Haven't seen an MY03 in the metal yet (may go to Nobles tomorrow) but purely based on the photos I've seen, not hugely impressed.
